North/South beauty divide?

I was with a friend in Eddy Rockets in Dundrum earlier today and he made a comment that the 'south side Dublin girls are hotter than those from the northside'. He counted 7 women in the place as 'hot' and said you wouldn't get that for example in Blanchardstown.

I was quick to dismiss this at first, but then I realised that perhaps there are certain attributes that are more common in Southsiders that he personally finds makes women more appealing to him. Perhaps it's the accent, style of clothing, mannerisms etc.

So AH, what's your view on this? Are there little general things about women from certain regions/areas that you find attractive or a turn off?

(note, this is not a north vs south thread...just using the north/south comment by my mate as context)

    More make-up, less Argos bling.

    *generalization*

There is something inbred looking about southsiders!
Northside girls look less fake and northside guys dont have brick/lego heads.

I'm a Northside girl and I shop in Dunrum a lot and tbh.. I have noticed the difference, I don't know what it is, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good looking girls on the Northside but literally every young girl you see in DTC is perfectly groomed and just better turned out than their Northside counterparts :o

Apart from the grooming, there seems to be just a better genepool at work..

If I can tell that which side of the city a female is from on account of how they look, what they wear or how they act, then I'm probably not going to be attracted to them anyhow.

The attractive ones will be in the group which transcends that crap.

These threads seem to narrow themselves down a bit more each week. It seemed to start off with Europe, now it's down to a branch of Eddie Rockets. Next week I'll start one about the ugly old hag who lives next door to me.

Also how does the OP know that all the women that were shopping were from the southside.
It's quite a big shopping centre and lots of people I know from the northside go there shopping.
It's got Ireland biggest lingerie section, believe.
Could be just that the shopping centres on the north side are a load of shite (which they are).

    North/South beauty divide?

Hmmm slightly confusing...when I read this tag, I initially thought the thread would be concerning the merits of the hotness of our "Norn Iron wemin" vs. the wallflower grimness of the poor ladies of the Republic....
    :p
    *Bring it on!* ;)

In all seriousnesss though, what is it with Dubs?
As if any body of water as disgusting as the Liffey could really act as some barrier of culture or physical attributes. That's what bridges and (historically) Viking Longboats where invented for after all.

    Leave it alone.......

Some of the women here are more orange than the North, especially when they hit the fake tan. Probably part of a big fashion plot leading to a united Ireland.

Meh I wouldn't feel intimidated/uncomfortable in the slightest by some D4 like jock standing beside me on a night out.

Me thinks it's just down to your own securities and confidences.

I definitely think people from Crumlin and Tallaght, with their lavish up bringing, have the edge when it comes to looks over the scum that is us peasants from the Northside.

I think it's more of a class/social status thing. The south of the city has more wealthier areas (and is way more built up) than the north of the city.

It seems to me that is the bigger factor. People - both male and female - from these areas pay more attention to their figure and appearance and it shows.

Southside girls look savage when they're caked in expensive makeup, which they always are.

Northside girls' accents kinda turn me on though.

All of this comes down to class, personally I don't care which side of the city a girl is from but I've seen girls from Castleknock act like they're from Blackrock etc...

Very true. This may offend some people and sorry if it does but an awful lot of southside girls seem to be tabbed under their stereotype and most don't stray too far from it with their own unique quantities and qualitites. In saying that I don't know how people from the southside view people from northside and tbh, I couldn't really care either. If someone wants to judge with "Omg you're a northsider" or "OMG you're a southsider" They can gtfo and wont be given any of my time.

That's a big generalisation. They look after their looks better because of where they're from?

Well imo there are a lot of wealthy suburbs located on the southside of the city compared to the northside.

So more disposbale income can be spent to enhance looks by way of clothes, make-up, jewelery etc...

You could re-name thread to ask are the Irish a good looking race of people compared to our European counterparts..........

Gotta love those Southsiders. Yes, I have to say my breath is frequently taken aback whenever I walk thru areas like Ballyfermot and Tallaght. The talent on show is just amazing. It's like walking through some special borough that Dublin County Council designated solely for models and moviestars.

Anyway ..... I do find all this Northside v Southside stuff very amusing and enjoy reading the sheer amount of stupid testimony composed on the subject e.g. the person who has decided Southsiders are better looking because the people in the area where she LIVES don't match up to the people she sees in a particular BUILDING where she shops.

It's amazing what a single stretch of water no more than 70 meters wide at it’s chief crossing point can do to the psychology of some people. It reminds me of how when Lansdowne closed down and the Rugby chaps had to come north to see the games at Croker. Grown Dubliners in their 20's and 30's who had literally never been north of the river? Guaranteed these were the same people spouting these stupid opinions about the relative merits about people’s looks.

IMHO this is mainly a class issue, not a geographical one. I'd be the first to acknowledge that *generally* people of better economic and educational backgrounds are *generally* more physically attractive than those from lesser backgrounds. However it'd be better to keep that in mind then to just presume that everyone from the former group originated/live in the southside and those who don't are north.

The south side of the city is stereotypically portrayed as the more affluent side.
Thing is, places like Tallaght, Clondalkin, Dolphin's Bar and Rialto are all south of the Liffey - and they're not considered good places to live. They're certainly not attributed with wealth.
On the north, you have places like Clontarf, Howth and Malahide that are all thought of as "posh" areas.

So, while people might assume the south side = richer = high social status, that's not strictly true. There are good and bad areas on both sides of Dublin.

    GA361 wrote: »

Plenty of girls wear make-up and plenty of girls wear fake-tan, not just girls from Dublin's south side.
Im from the northside and ill be the first to admit that southsiders are a hundred times better looking.

There are good looking people everywhere. Plenty of women that are considered to be some of Ireland's best looking people come from the north side (Ruth O'Neill, Glenda Gilson etc)
    Kiera wrote: »

    ?

This thread, although not intended by the OP, is just a target for people on either side of the Liffey to take a stab at each other.

Yes I would rather the south-side women. It could be a case of me wanting what I can't have though.

I think the north Siders tend to be more aggressive, which maybe means they produce more testosterone. (Deffo a bad thing.)

There's still a lot of hotties in Blanchardstown though.

Which ever side is ugliest, since you would look better in comparison.

I think people are right about wealth, the OP said dundrum and blanchardstown, but it could be howth vs tallaght

I suppose by the logic of this thread, the North side, because you'd look better by comparison.

    TO SUM IT UP

The difference between north side girls and south side girls is that north side girls have fake jewellery and real orgasms.
