Do you have confirmation of that because all season long for some unexplained reason Sky have stopped showing la liga via the red button button and just joined in the second half.

Silva has stepped it up this season.

Much better player than in 2008.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Ibrahimovic is out, thank the lord.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

    Barcelona started poorly.

Valencia have been excellent, even with most of their big players out. Silva in particular has been on fire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Some scumbag just spat at Pablo when he was taking the corner!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Bojan just running into players and falling over anytime he gets the ball. Have to say Henry needs to come on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Great run and pass from Messi, awful shot Pedro.

Barca look off the pace once again.

    Not really got going.

    Very stop start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Barcelona need to change something. Messi is the only one offering an attacking threat, but even he can't do everything himself every game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,092 ✭✭✭Le King

Valenica have a better chance of going on to win this. Barca need to wake up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,296 ✭✭✭RandolphEsq

The past couple weeks seem to be the best chance any team has had to beat Barcelona. Valencia, if they had Villa and Mata, could have really wallopped them tonight. Good game so far though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

    Henry on for Bojan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Messi pretty much created that out of nothing, 1-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Valencia have given up and just started kicking out at players.

    Red Card Durduro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Then Pedro misses a sitter :)

    Red Card Durduro.
It's simply ridiculous how many red cards that Valencia have gotten. It's cost them so many games, but yet the players never seem to learn.

    let the debate begin...

Rooney/Messi this year for World Player of the Year?

all dependant on the World Cup?

    by far

    your joking right ?

anyway the little man has won me money so i love him

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

All depends on how United/Barca and England/Argentina do in the Champions League and World Cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,046 ✭✭✭✭L'prof

The amount of goals and assists Messi has coming from midfield is enough for him to win the trophy again. For me, he's been the best player in the world for the last 2 seasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    29 goals for Messi

Just 9 short of last season's haul.

I reckon he could better it.

Arguable! The player of the year usually comes from a world cup winning team in a World cup year. Rooney has to be in with a shout too. Not saying he's better but this year alone has been close.

He doesnt play in midfield. He plays on the right up front in a 4-3-3 though he does drop back. Tonight for example he played in the centre of the 3 and not on the right as Ibra was suspended.

As you say, the world cup will have quite a bearing on who wins the World Player of the Year. Therefore if Spain or Brazil, the two favourites, win, there's a good chance the Ballon D'Or would go to one of their players.

I don't know if they have markets available yet, but if they were a nice price Xavi/Iniesta could be worth a punt, especially if Barca get to the business end of the Champions League.
