Mark Owen confesses to 10 affairs

    from the Sun:
MARRIED Take That star Mark Owen last night sensationally confessed to having TEN affairs.

The "squeaky clean" singer opened his heart to The Sun in a bid to wipe the slate clean and start afresh with his wife Emma.
Mark, 38, broke the news of his cheating to Emma, mum of their two kids, at their London home yesterday.
He said: "She loves me and I let her down. I'm really sorry."
The multi-millionaire singer blamed a long battle with booze for his two-timing, which will shock millions of the chart-topping band's adoring fans.
And he told The Sun: "I have been an idiot, a d***head, a k***head. All of the above and more.
"It's about me, my mistakes. Nobody else is to blame."
Mark had all ten flings AFTER he started dating Emma five years ago.

    Children

The pair were an item long before they finally married in a Scottish castle last October, watched by smiling bandmates Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Jason Orange.

And they have two children - Elwood, three, and Willow Rose, one.
One of Mark's affairs - with accounts manager Neva Hanley, 24 - carried on for the best part of five years.
The others were drunken one-night stands with girls while Take That were on tour.
Mark said: "I don't know how many girls there were in all. Maybe ten."
Yesterday he admitted everything to unsuspecting Emma as he tried desperately to draw a line under his betrayal and forge a new beginning with her.
The star - who insists he has been faithful to Emma since their wedding - said:
Open_Quote_359000a.gif I have been living with the guilt. It has always been there - you carry it around with you.
It held me back in my relationship with Emma. I wouldn't have done any of this if I had my time again.

I am halfway through my life now and this, in a way, is a lesson. You've got to learn and that's what I am going to do.
Emma is really strong and I know she will do what is right for her and the kids.
I support that and I really appreciate that.
She loved me - she still does love me - and I have let her down. That's the truth of it.
You realise what you have done when you face up to it and the mistakes you have made.
And I have really let her down. Friends, everybody. I feel like I have let everyone down.Close_Quote_359001a.gif
Mark, who also admits his behaviour can be "difficult," added: "I wish I had told Emma about this before we got married and come clean then.

    Bedded

"I've done it now. It wouldn't be a second chance, it would be the 100th chance she has given me."
In another confession, he told how he last bedded Neva in September - just weeks before he wed Emma.
The other members of Take That, who have sold more than 30million albums worldwide, with 11 No1 singles, knew NOTHING about her.
Mark met posh Neva when she was just 19 on a platform at Preston railway station in September 2004, two years after he won the second series of Celebrity Big Brother.
They became friends - and three weeks later he flew her to Los Angeles, where they had sex in Hollywood's Best Western hotel.

Three months later Mark invited Neva to his Lake District home, where they spent a night smoking cannabis, drinking vodka and having sex.
The pair later cooled their relationship but kept in touch and met up occasionally at hotels.
A week after Mark's daughter was born, they had another night of passion.
Their final romp came at the Gore Hotel in Kensington, West London.
Neva told The Sun: "We had sex five times that night. That's when I started to feel really guilty."
She added: "The lie has gone on for too long. I can't do this to Mark's family any more."
Mark said: "When I met Neva in September it was because I was having a tough time with Emma.
"I wasn't feeling very good about myself or the future and I went down my phonebook, found her number and we met up.

    Chance

"After that last meeting I realised I had to try to sort my life out. I had to change the person I was. The wedding for me was a new slate and a new start.
"In my head there was never a time when I was doubting getting married.
"It was a chance for me to put it all behind me and not make the mistakes I had made in the past."
Mark met Neva last month and told her his family came first and she had to keep her distance.
The mega-rich star has posted a series of cheques totalling £12,000 to her from his private account over the last year, including £9,000 since he tied the knot with Emma, 33.

He said: "She phoned me the week before I got married. She said she had lost her job and was going to lose her flat - and asked if I could help her out.
"I have known her for years so I said, 'Of course.' In all I paid her about £12k, the last one just last week.
"When I have been in a bad way, when I have needed a bit of support, she has been there for me.
"All the other girls were one night stands. On tour. When I was away from home on wild nights out, which was every night. I'm not in contact with any of them.
"It wasn't the girls' fault, it was mine. I would be up for it and looking for it.
"I wasn't thinking straight. The next day I would think, 'Oh f***.' It was regret - disappointment in myself.
"I had been drinking. I wouldn't have the nerve to talk to a girl when I'm not drunk."
He added: "I wasn't paying Neva with the intention of keeping her quiet. I'd have no money left if I was paying them all off.
"None of the boys knew about her. I told them about her yesterday. She was at gigs but they never met her."

    Better

Mark admitted his drinking had caused cracks in his relationship with Emma - and said he had been "not very nice to live with".
He added: "I denied to her I was having an affair when things were going on.
"It was getting better and better, me and Em.
"We met and within a year and a half she was pregnant with our first beautiful boy, Elwood. And when you have kids, things change.
"I feel like I am getting to know Em more and more every day. I love her to death but our relationship hasn't always been great, because of me.
"She has tried really hard to support me.
"Life was hard, I guess. I let Emma down. I was selfish and stubborn.

"Everything that has happened to me I have brought on myself. If ever we argued it was down to me."
Mark said he'd had nothing to do with other girls since his wedding.
He added: "I'm proud of that. I know that sounds really stupid but on our wedding day, for me the ring is really important and I want to be true to my word.
"It was a big change for me to be able to do that. It was a big moment for me, my wedding day. On many levels it was a fresh start and that was how I was looking at it."
Mark said he was addressing his booze problem. He added: "I have noticed a change since I stopped drinking, but I am quite difficult.
"It wasn't the sunshine Emma was hoping for but it is better. I have always liked a drink and I am a party man."

The star went on to declare that coming clean about his affairs might be the best thing that has happened to him. He said:
Open_Quote_359000a.gif This has to happen for me to move on. It would have always been there. I could never have been fully open with Emma, with myself, with anybody. Now I can.
I can start again. That's how I feel.
I wish I had realised about my drinking earlier.
Emma is a strong girl. She has to do what is right for her and the kids. And I am here if she wants me.
I want to do the right thing now for the kids and Emma.
It's the best thing in the world having kids. I feel blessed and I am really sorry that I have done this to them and to Emma.
She has done a lot of good for me, Emma has. She is absolutely without doubt the only person I want to be with for the rest of my life.
She is the best thing that has happened to me. I want us to grow together and be together - but let's see what happens.Close_Quote_359001a.gif
He added: "I really wanted for me and Emma to move on when we got married and not make the same mistakes.
"It's going to do good in the long run. It's for the best, this.
"In situations like this people surprise you. Friendships and the words people send. I feel supported - an idiot like me."

Shocked at this! I gues it's always the squeaky cleans ones you gotta watch out for...

He had sex with his mistress a week after his child was born?! Disgusting and totally unforgiveable. The number of these kinds of stories coming out recently is really depressing :(

lol - I think the headline should read "MARRIED Former Take That star Mark Owen last night sensationally confessed to having to concoct a sex story in a futile effort to get some publicity in an attempt to relaunch his career".

Really, does no one ever read behind theheadlines and realise that mark owen has paid a Pr agent to get him some headlines, and this is the result. Does anyone really care if he has slept with 10 or 100 women?

I also love the way how they make it sound like he just HAD to get it off his chest and FINALLY confess after carrying such a heavy burden of guilt around.

More like the Sun found out, called him up and said "Listen, we have the stoey, we're gonna run it, you want to give your side or not?"

Man in the entertainment industry admits to unfaithfulness, this is truly shocking stuff here....

I really didn't see this one coming..

Take That star Mark Owen has admitted cheating on his wife with "maybe ten" different women.

The singer, famous for his squeaky clean image, said that problems with alcohol were to blame for the string of affairs, one of which - with 24-year-old account manager Neva Hanley - lasted five years.

Owen insists he's been faithful since marrying wife Emma (nee Ferguson, pictured) five months ago, but confessed to having slept with Hanley just weeks before the pair were wed.

The other infidelities were, he says, short-term flings with Take That fans on tour.

Owen and Emma have had two children together - Elwood, aged three, and Willow Rose, who's one.

"I denied to her I was having an affair when things were going on," said Owen, explaining why he'd chosen to come out with the revelations now.

"I want to do the right thing now for the kids and Emma. She is absolutely without a doubt the only person I want to be with for the rest of my life.

"I'm so deeply sorry for the pain my actions have caused... I have been an idiot, a d***head, a k***head. All of the above and more"

I'm guessing someone was planning a kiss and tell and he got to the papers first but what a tool

I reckon this story is a smokescreen created by Owens PR people, and the real story is that someone was trying to 'out' him.

Take That dont need to be making up stories to get publicity, especially stories of this nature. This seems completely genuine and just down right depressing to be honest.

Just because he's got a cute face and all that doesn't seperate him from the likes of John Terry and Ashley Cole. He's a cheater, end of story.

Really surprised at this. Big Take That fan and always had a soft spot for him. Not shocked, it happens but I'd have him down as the last person in showbiz to do that, always seemed like butter wouldn't melt. Ah well, good luck to him and his wife, he's got a hell of a lot of making up to do. I'd have him gone but they're not long married so she'll probably stick with him in the hope that now that they're married he's stopped doing it.

More likely she knew about it and tolerated it but since it has know became public she is trying to save face.

It's kinda odd that it all came out now.. just after boyzone have a new album out... extra publicity for Take That?

Lol. Why would anyone in their right mind think that doing a 'Tiger Woods' would be beneficial to their career? Look at him, he lost a lot of sponsorship deals and has all but ruined his golf career. Believe it or not, some people (individuals and companies alike) still have some values and don't particularly want to be associated with people who have multiple affairs when married with children.

As for it being publicity to "relaunch" his career...I think its safe to assume you're not really up on the pop scene (which is fair enough) but Take That have made a monumental comeback over the past 2 years or so (4 Brit awards, 3 nominations) and there is no need for Mark Owen to attempt to gain by publicity by destroying the nice guy image he has had for the past 20 years.

Also, I really, really don't think Take That are all that threatened by a new Boyzone album.

I was very surprised by this story and I think the only reason he went public with it was because he knew the story was going to break regardless. In this respect, I agree that his PR people were used and they probably told him to play up the drink problem in an attempt to garner some public sympathy. The whole article is all very "poor me" which I find really horrible.

Is it just me, or does this set a precedent for Robbie's return to Take That.
The group as a whole now seems less able to claim a moral highground, and they may figure they need the publicity.

Now had you just said footballers, then fair enough. I don't expect anyone to stop supporting Chelsea because John Terry has proven himself to be a complete scumbag in his personal life. But to say you like them as people??

Also, I'm confused by your last comment. If we can't judge them based on their behaviour, which is absolutely appalling, then how can we judge them?

So you like John Terry for his football persona. Thats all well and good. Liking him as a footballer is different to liking him as a person. There's a big distinction. As I said already, if you like them for their profession then good for you.

We judge people on their actions, and whether you like it or not John Terry, Ashley Cole and Mark Owen have all acted in appalling ways. I would class having an affair with your friends missus, getting her pregnant, paying for an abortion and all behind the back of your wife and kids to be pretty scumbaggy behaviour. If you don't, well...thats your perogative. I doubt you'll find many who agree with you.

Now, since I've no doubt you'll not read this properly, miss the point and throw a few snappy smilies into your reply, I'll break it down.

Liking the famous person for their profession is not the same as liking them as a person.

So if you're not happy you have a string of affairs as opposed to leaving your wife that you're so unhappy with?

What a load of crap. These are adults.

What about Mark Owen? 10 affairs, one that went on for quite a while and can't be attributed to his drinking problem. I love how you refer to it as 'cheating' as if its not really cheating at all. These are married men, some with children, who have destroyed their marriages and families.

You're entitled to your opinion but I really think you're confusing what you see on the pitch with their behaviour off it.

Ah so its love now! Hahaha, you're a gas ticket Stacey I'll give you that.

The poor boys. Falling in love with all those women, must have been so hard for them. And then the booze every single time. I mean, how did Ashley even send those pictures when he was so paraletic that he had no idea what he was doing.

I was quite disappointed when i heard this, he seemed like a goody goody but sure Tiger had that image too before his scandals broke.

Why do these women, if money and publicity is their intention, wait for ages until someone else breaks the story before selling theirs? Wouldn't you think that the first one would get offered the most money?

Anyway, Ashley's probably delighted the heat has been drawn away from him for a while

I'd be astonished if you know all three of them "as people". You may know what their PR people want you to know, or what the tabloids want you to know, but anyone who thinks thats what they are like "as people" is deluding themselves.

I'd be astonished if you know all three of them "as people". You may know what their PR people want you to know, or what the tabloids want you to know, but anyone who thinks thats what they are like "as people" is deluding themselves.
from what ive seen of them as people.

The whole article is all very "poor me" which I find really horrible.

huh? He'll be back in the next month or so probably and he will still dominate the game for many years ahead.

Lol, I am still amazed when posters here claim to know anything about anyone beyond what has been carfully planned and planted in the press by their PR people. And yet there seem to be loads of people who actually believe they know about the lives of others because of what they read in the papers about them.

When will such people realise that Adam Clayton never went out with Naomi Campbell. What happens is that her PR people get together with his PR people and they decide it will be good to increase both their profiles if Adam & Naomi were seen together, and if rumours started about them, then they could be photographed at "events" etc etc., and they hope they can play it out for a few months all the time getting lotsa lotsa publicity for their clients.

Most "celebrity" stories are planted in the press by PR people, and if anyone believes such stories it just shows how foolish they are.

What do they see in him anyway? He looks like a hobbit.

Ah I'm disappointed, he looks and acts like such a good guy. I wonder what his wife is going to do, hasn't been much talk of her.

I'm just raging I wasn't one of the ten. To think of all the times Mark and Howard were in dublin, and not once called me!

I would've gone to the papers ASAP! Feck it!!:P
