What movie do you/have you watch/ed over again?

There are movies sometimes describe as ones you would watch over again, but then you never actually do. So what movies have you actually watched over and over again?
I have watched Gran Torino 4 times, just for Walt Kowalski.
Somehow I have watched Catch Me if You Can about 6 times. Whenever it's on I somehow end up watching the whole thing.
The Big Lebowski. About 5 times. Enough said.
Once Upon a Time in the West about 4 times. Everything about that movie does it for me; Claudia Cardinale, the music, Harmonica. I just love it!

    Pan's Labyrinth. By personal choice.

Three times in 24 hours the other day. Seen it probably upwards of 30 times since its release. Love every single aspect of the film-- the storyline, the imagination, the creatures, the casting choices, the technical aspects (ie the costuming of the faun and the pale man), the minute details (
such as the interior of the Captain's "office" being created to subtly look like a watch, the CGI of the captain's "extended smile," the way his right eye rolls up in his head after he's shot in the right cheek
). Even the fact that they used proper horses (Lusitanos/Andalusians of proper breeding, by the looks of it; stunning animals) and not just whatever was cheap and plentiful like most American films do. Which is something not many would notice, but I do.

Every little bit of it, in my opinion, is perfect, and I think it's probably my favourite film, albeit that's a tough call. There's nothing in it I would change, anyway. Not a single thing.

+1 on Pan's Labyrinth, it's an amazing amazing film.

For me it's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - it's one of the few movies I actually bought on DVD, and I can watch it again and again and again and again... such a complex story, fitting soundtrack, amazing cinematography

Well Liahs swooning over Pan's Labyrinth has decided what I am doing tonight! :)
Great great film alright, but for me it's the movies I watch with a kebab after a few scoops...so usually no brainer stuff.
Like Independance Day, Die Hard, Ghostbusters, The Rock all spring to mind as movies that are pretty worn out in my house.

I will always watch Goonies when its on...always! So much nostalgia.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, to me its perfect, I've seen it at least 300 times (and thats probably a conservative estimate) since I was a kid, think I first saw it when i was 4 or 5, I even stilll own the original 1982 VHS release of it, back when retail videos cost a small fortune.

Its just one of those movies where everything works, the casting, the script, the action setpieces, the humour, the direction, THAT music and the sense of adventure.

I wanna watch it again now :D

I've watched Terminator 2, Star Wars : Ep III, The Dark Knight over and over countless times (by which I mean about 20)

I watch the BTTF trilogy whenever it's on :) I used to watch Freddy Got Fingered over and over until I got kinda sick of it.

Jurassic Park. Haven't watched it too much in the last few years but I remember watching it every morning before school when I was a kid for 5 months until the video went missing (someone stole it ). I love it.

Star Wars. I'm not a huge fan or anything but it's just something I can watch over and over. This goes for all 3 films.

    Terminator 2
    Shawshank Redemption
    Fight Club
    Batman Begins
    Donnie Darko. Love the soundtrack.

I recently watched Blade Runner for the first time and have a feeling I'll be watching it a few more times.

When I was about 8 or 9 I watched Predator a ridiculous number of times - so much that I knew most of the script by heart.

One of my favourite films is Full Metal Jacket. After I got the dvd I kept watching it over and over again. The gunnery sgt. is one of the most badass characters I've ever seen on screen.

I've also watched Dirty Harry many, many times. Clint Eastwood at his finest.

I stick Lotr, harry potter, star wars, series of films like this on when i've nothing else to watch. I've seen them enough times that I can dip in and out and still follow but if I pay close attention i'll usually gleam something new or re-remember something interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,885 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Batman 1989 - I grew up watching this and still watch it a lot these days. I wouldn't be surprised if I've seen it over 300 times.
    Batman Returns
    Edward Scissorhands
    The Shining
    The 40 Year Old Virgin
    Mr. Bean (Movie)
    Gran Torino

    Classics never get old :D

I would normally buy DVDs on the grounds that I'll watch it over and over again. I have over 200 at this stage so narrowing it down isnt the easiest of tasks.

However, I would be very happy to be locked in a room with only The Shawshank Redemption, The Back to the Future Trilogy, A Pixar Boxset, 12 Angry Men, All the Presidents Men, Goodfellas and Goodbye Mr Chips to keep me company.

    The Matrix
    Jurassic Park
    Dumb and Dumber
    Grease
    E.T.

    Home Alone
    The Long Kiss Goodnight
    Labyrinth
Classic action films from Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Van Damme

I'm also going to add to this list: Avatar

All of the above are easy to watch and consistently entertaining. I usually throw them onto my netbook to watch on a plane journey as I could watch any of them over and over and not notice the time passing.

I'm going to throw in Fight Club and Donnie Darko again...And add A Knight's Tale, East Is East, Shrek 2 and About A Boy...

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. I know, I know, Raiders is a better-made film. But for pure action and joy, it's gotta be the Last Crusade for me. Never, ever fails to entertain me.

Jaws as my favorite movie of all time

Fight club/the usual suspects: I always notice something new when rewatching them in particular in TUS I try to come up with new theories to explain everything.

Rounders: because I'm a big poker head.

Taken/Rambo iv: mindless fun. That is all!

Count of monte cristo remake/any given Sunday because they are bizzarely my two fav films.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭Orlaladuck

I'm terrible for re-watching movies but the main ones are :
Forrest Gump - Can't get enough of the old Tom Hank's stuff!
    Beauty and the Beast
    V for Vendetta
10 things I hate about you
    Moulin Rouge!
    Donnie Darko.
    Wall-e

I think there's nothing better then sitting down to re-watch a movie you adore ^.^

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Oh V for vendetta is a great choice!!!!

I'll only watch a film twice if it's with other people. I don't see the point in seeing the same storey more than once.
