    Wtf !!!

Arrests in Cork and Waterford over murder plot

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0309/waterford.html

Gardaí have arrested five people in Waterford and two others in Cork in connection with an investigation into a conspiracy to murder a Swedish cartoonist.

The cartoonist, Lars Vilks, has been threatened over his drawing depicting the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog.

The head of an al Qaeda-led group in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, posted an audio tape on the internet in September, 2007, offering $100,000 for the killing of Mr Vilks.

This morning, detectives arrested three men and two women in Waterford and Tramore and another man and woman at Ballincollig, near Cork city. A number of searches also took place.

A garda spokesman said the operation was part of an investigation into a conspiracy to murder an individual in another jurisdiction.

Members of the Garda National Support Services and the Special Detective Unit were also involved in this morning's operation.

Gardaí say they are working closely with police forces in a number of other European countries and in the US.

The seven people arrested this morning range in age from their mid-20s to their late-40s.

They are being questioned at garda stations in Waterford, Tramore, Dungarvan and Thomastown.

All are being detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows for them to be held for up to a week.

Those in custody are originally from Morocco and Yemen, but it is understood they all have refugee status and are legally in the country.

Does anyone else think that if guilty these people need their refugee status removed 269 votes

    Irish 'plot to kill cartoonist'
    breaking news

Seven people have been arrested in the Irish Republic over an alleged plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist for depicting the Prophet Muhammad, police say.

The four men and three women are all Muslim, according to media reports, though a police statement did not confirm this.

Cartoonist Lars Vilks had depicted the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog in the Nerikes Allehanda newspaper.

    Al-Qaeda then put a $100,000 (£67,000)bounty on his head.

This just goes to show that the government needs to start enforcing tighter controls and do more checks on people coming into the country before giving them refugee status.

People like them sicken me. I'm a Christian and if I came across a nasty cartoon of Jesus Christ I would just throw it in the bin. I wouldn't want to go out and kill the cartoonist even if he is an ill-informed oaf at best.

Er, just to point out that some of the more hard-core Wahabbist muslims found in Ireland are actually Irish-born converts, before there's talk of "deportation" and whatnot.

Far as I am concerned if you come here for refugee status and free board and keep and everything that goes with that from the Irish taxpayer then go about planning murders here or abroad then you have permanently undermined your claim on our charity. We have enough problems without importing bloodthirsty islamists.

Fair play to them, its about time someone stuck it to those Vikings. The amount of raping and pillaging they did through the years.

The deserve everything they get, and I'm happy my tax money is going to feed, clothe and house those pesky little muslim chaps if they are going to take a shot at those swedish cnuts.
