    I dunno,

I wonder is it a case that someone overheard these guys saying something to the effect of I'll kill that guy for drawing mohammed,

I seriously can't believe that it's a full blown terroist cell.

Is anyone else imagining a 24 episode based on how do? :)

Gardaí have arrested five people in Waterford and two others in Cork in connection with an investigation into a conspiracy to murder a Swedish cartoonist.
The cartoonist, Lars Vilks, has been threatened over his drawing depicting the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog.
The head of an al Qaeda-led group in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, posted an audio tape on the internet in September, 2007, offering $100,000 for the killing of Mr Vilks.

This morning, detectives arrested three men and two women in Waterford and Tramore and another man and woman at Ballincollig, near Cork city. A number of searches also took place.
A garda spokesman said the operation was part of an investigation into a conspiracy to murder an individual in another jurisdiction.
Members of the Garda National Support Services and the Special Detective Unit were also involved in this morning's operation.
Gardaí say they are working closely with police forces in a number of other European countries and in the US.
The seven people arrested this morning range in age from their mid-20s to their late-40s.
They are being questioned at garda stations in Waterford, Tramore, Dungarvan and Thomastown.
All are being detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows for them to be held for up to a week.
Those in custody are originally from Morocco and Yemen, but it is understood they all have refugee status and are legally in the country.

Was just listening to someone from the News and Star on Matt Coopers show, she said the target wasn't named, nor did the Gardai specify the nature of the detainees. The only hint of "bigness" was that various external agencies were involved including the FBI

if this is true id nearly give up.
So they come over here crying saying they need asylum there being picked on in their own countries, we give them a free house! Free medical care! Over 200 quid a week! and by the looks of it free internet!! and just sit around although plotting to kill a 64 year old man who drew a picture.

I hope they get extradited or at the very least deported for bring this kind of malarkey over here!
Personally if I was the government id be looking for some back pay on 200 quid a week!

Some people show a real nasty streak when there's foreigners involved. Of course, no Irish person would ever plan to kill anyone. It's only those dirty foreigners, eh?

iv not heard of any house or bussiness closed off this morning , do we know if was def in city or maybe outskirts of city......it must be serious enough threat if sky and cbs news are covering it too. The republic was seein as easy option for these people i reckon, we just do not know any backround on who has come into this country over the last few years do we.

I would hazard a guess that no Irish people ever entered a country to kill a gut who wrote a cartoon.

You're right. Our religious zealots prefer to cover up child rape instead.

Dont know if this is related or not. Was coming home from work this morning about quarter past seven and was going up the Upper Yellow road by the Lantern Pub and there was a squad car, a smaller squad like a panda car and also the unmarked garda car pulled over at the same spot. It might be totally unrelated and they could have been doing traffic surveylance but I thought it was unusual to have such a high presence of gardai in the one spot.

That is stretching IMO, our religious zealots didn't take to the streets in thousands burning effigies of children after the child rape cases came out.

    Might I ad I'm not a racist but.................... :)
