    Should be good.

But how do you "curate" a soundtrack ?

I asked myself that question aswell

Curate can mean to select or organize. So Jenny Green did that with songs to create a soundtrack.

Should be a good evening. Looking forward to it! :)

would love to bring the smallies to this but am afraid it might be a bit cold or possibly wet for them. anyone got a suggestion of a place to go where you'd be able to park up and still see the fireworks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 65 ✭✭tierney2

What would be a good pub to watch it from? Clem Smiths?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

Claws would be a good place to watch it i'd say

Well we had a Curate in our Parish - so maybe it means that the music touches you in intrusive and unwanted ways?

    - Only joking, looking forward to this - hopefully it will all go well :D

Looks like there will a really big display judging from the number of launchers already setup outside city hall. I was talking to one of the Riggers and he said that there were still 2 truckload due to arrive at the staging area!

Dont miss this one we probably wont see a show this big for quite a while!

They ran through the final checks last night. The Castle will also be light up tonight. Today they ran the speakers and amps with remote connections to each of the bridges. Lots of wattage out there!!
Its gonna be loud!! - Big Screen setup at the potato market and the stage is at Arthurs Quay. They are setup for big crowds and even have portaloos on hand!!

Bit underwhelming compared to previous years. I am sure it was great to be standing near King John Castle alright but I was watched the first 5 minutes on TV and had to turn it off. All that background imagery overlapping the fireworks was doing my head in. Went outside and had a great view of the city from a distance. Looked much better but I thought it would be 20minutes at least. 15 minutes is better than nothing I suppose but I think it looked better when they had it in Dublin. Glad to see something like this coming to Limerick all the same.

I too tryed to watch it on tv like Ron said the over-lapping of Irish mountains and sea cliffs was way too over powering.
Looked awful when they did that, but when they showed the castle and fireworks on there own looked great. Pity they wrecked the tv show by adding all that backround crap,it was hard to even see the kids in the crowd that the cameras were showing. So i hope people made it to the real thing because it would have been great, well done limerick. RTE let us down once again.

Saw it on my way in to work from Raheen to Castletroy - looked amazing!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,916 ✭✭✭RonMexico

Just had a look at previous years shows on youtube and there is none of that smaltzy $hite overlapping the fireworks. Nice one RTE you shower of clowns.

I hope everyone that went in to see the fireworks enjoyed them.

Went in to see it, thought it was great. As said above there was a nice atmosphere around as well which was great.

I thought it was excellent. A great free nights entertainment for me and the kids. Watched it just opposite King John's Castle, by the Curraghgower Pub (had my plastic glass of vino tinto in hand!). My kids were amazed by it, as was I. I thought it was well organised, lots of families out and about enjoying it. We need more of this!:D

Couldn't go cos I'm sick but RTE made an awful dogs dinner of the coverage.

Why they couldn't just keep the camera pointed at the fireworks without any overlapping images.

The programme looked like it was produced by an amature!

I've been at this event for the last few years and I'm sure those who were there would've had a ball! I love the pix also folks, keep posting them!

    The fireworks were lovely!
The traffic was not so lovely!
The tv coverage looked weird from what I saw...it was good to see people out with their families.

The pics above are great :)

Watched it from my front garden, looked good but the pics from town look amazing. Good to see something positive here. As for it not being as impressive when it was in Dublin, I'd have to agree but then I assume they don't have the same budget as before.

CCSL and Phog, some great shots there guys. Both of you really captured some great images of a good evening.

A load of kudos has to go to the National Lottery for bringing this event to Limerick and for splashing the cash to make it happen.

Shannon Development deserve a shout as well for the face painters, jugglers and bands beforehand.

And a shout out to 2FM for the music played during the fireworks.

Superb evening, and kudos to all involved!

I was wary of going because I didn't fancy getting stuck in major traffic on a gamble of a damp squib, but I'm damn glad that I went!

    Great photos too, lads/lassies!

I'm with Kess on this a big thank you to all involved, the cost must have been phenomenal, they have been setting it up since mid-week, the fireworks and lighting must have cost a bomb (pardon the pun) and then the stewarding, street cleaners, street entertainment, search & rescue, and so on, a great night and Limerick looked well.

Thank You to all the agencies and National Lottery for a great night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,543 ✭✭✭JerryHandbag

Had a nice spot by the Curraghgower pub, great night and good to have something positive about Limerick. Well done to all involved.

Does anybody else think that the castle looks spectacular with the lights, really adds a pleasant image to the city during the night. They really should be kept and installed there.:)
