Best to install at least Service Pack 2 or 3 on Windows XP to fix all the security holes.

Service Pack 1 is no longer supported by Microsoft.

Do you not have Automatic Updates turned on in Windows, even the option to download and let you install them manually?

If you have Service 2 or 3 installed and the 3 Modem drivers are requesting Service Pack 1, then you will need to update the drivers!

Check what version of XP you have currently as you might already have Service pack 2 or 3 and the installer isn't working properly:

Right click on 'My Computer' and pick 'Properties'. Your version of XP will be listed under 'System' in the General tab.
