The Monday night wars begin again when iMPACT! makes the move to Mondays starting tonight.

Already announced is Flair and AJ vs. Abyss and Hogan

At least 3 surprise names are set to debut on iMPACT! tonight. RVD has been heavily linked and Prowrestling.net is reporting that Jeff Hardy is expected to appear on tonight's live TNA Impact on Spike TV. Hardy recently filmed sit down interviews a few weeks ago for a promotional video produced by TNA.

So who are the debuts tonight - RVD and who else

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

I expect Sting to show up in this and jeff Hardy will probably reappear. I dunno about anyone debuting, I can't think of any free agents who are available who would make a huge difference really. Sid I suppose is a long shot.

Based on another Scott Hall video, Scott Hall & Sean Waltman look to be facing Kevin Nash & Eric Young on tomorrow's show.

Nash doing an interview which would build for the match was the only thing besides the Hogan match actually promoted on Thursday for the show.

What time is TNA on at tonight? Is there anywhere to stream it? I can't believe flair is back wrestling again, after his big send off on WWE.

C'mon, you know retirement in wrestling means nothing. Sure he wrestled a few months ago on Hogan's Hulkamania Australia-Schmalia tour. It's a shame since he got probably the best send off from WWE (and so "the world") but you knew it was coming! Flair's a deadbeat that needs money for the current wife, previous 3 and next one.

When he was doing it in his 20's to his late 40's, everyone idolized him and thought he was the man. Now he's still doing it and all of a sudden he's a deadbeat. Ageism maybe?

It's on at 9 Est in the US so that'd be 2am here (same as Raw)

Look in the streams thread tonight, I'm sure 1 will be put up.

    The card so far:

    Hogan/Abyss vs. Flair/AJ
    Hall/Waltman vs. Nash/Young

Because he can't work anymore so of course people wish he would go away. Chops and a rubbish lock does not make a good match. :)

The original poster wasn't really referring to any of that. My impression was that he was referring to Flair as a deadbeat because of his personal life.

I'm more referring to his recent life outside wrestling; no-showing events & signings, taking ROH's money and not doing shows (not an isolated incident)...believing his own gimmick; constantly throwing his cash away on nights out and on marriages again and again. In an interview someone (can't recall the name) went around Naitchin' with Flair for two weeks and picked up all the tips he left, and gave it back to him afterwards. He collected over $1,500!

I think he's a damn fool for his poor lifestyle choices that have left him (relatively) poor so he still has to work (this is actually really sad) but screwing indy dates/bookings over, especially after taking their cash, is a real deadbeat move.

edit : lol there's been quite a few posts since i started writing my reply! I sure don't wanna see Flair wrestle but I imagine the TNA non-internet crowd would love to see him wrestle again.

All of this is nothing new. This is Ric Flair and everyone was swooning over him for for three decades and all of a sudden everyone is getting all moralistic about him now.

Also, Ric Flair's motto has always been have just enough money until the day you drop dead. He mentions it in the Horsemen dvd that he was spending 100% more than he earned.

And he was smiling and I'm sure alot of people were smiling too. That's his lifestyle choice and I don't think he regrets any of it. Watch the Horsemen dvd. He loved every minute of it and I just think that for everyone to expect him to immediately turn into Mr. Sensible because he's in his 60's is unreasonable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Hey, if he's happy where he is now, good for him! If he wants to piss away all his earnings Naitchin', right on, brother! It's not our job to worry about his future. If he has enough money to keep doing what he loves doing, then fantastic. I guess a heart attack or drug OD would suit him real well then.

Did he used to screw over dates/bookings? Screwing over ROH is a pretty dickless move; WWF/WCW/NWA I could understand, but ROH really need the money/promotion.

How this turned into a Flair debate is beyond me.

    From TNA's website:

Plus, "The Icon" Sting has signed a new contract with TNA Wrestling and will be at Monday's historic broadcast on SpikeTV!

    Yay

So what are they going to do in the first five minutes? RVD? Hardy? Sting? A wrestling match?:P

    He's main-eventing, brother!

First 5 minutes, ya gotta think a surprise entry (i.e. RVD) to hook in the viewers and make them stay, like Jan 4th. Really looking forward to the show! (not so much the main event lol)

I gotta figure that since they're doing a live show they'll have to calm down on the number of segments/pre-records; as the weekly taped shows look so over-produced. Let's hope!

If not Abyss, who do you think would be best suited for a rub by association with Hogan?

I'd say introducing RVD will be the first thing TNA'll do tonight or it could be the BIG Surprise they've planned

    From JB's Twitter:
Just watched the new open to iMPACT! - complete with a new theme. Looks awesome. You'll see it tonight!

There better be at least one cage walk in that iMPACT! opening or it just truly doesn't represent TNA. I think Abyss is near perfect for the Hogan rub if he wasn't close to a mental breakdown anytime Hogan talks to him.

They are running out of BIG surprises.

True, God forbid they may soon have to think about what they're booking on the show to get people to watch. There's only so much hotshotting a company can do and it's all TNA have been doing for the last eight years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

They are running out of BIG surprises.

Its a fair point, if Jeff and RVD don't bring in the viewers and money who will?
Goldberg does not want to deal with them and I can't think of any free agents making much of a difference. Sid, Savage?:confused:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Is hotshotting having someone debut in your company?

With TNA it's never been about who it is that doesn't draw but how they've been used.

    jaykhunter wrote: »

Basically instead of growing as a company and slowly building through good TV and establishing characters, TNA have always went out to seek that next 'Major Acquisition' to solve their problems. Constantly bringing people in in hope that they'll draw. Whether it was Shamrock, Raven, Hennig, BG James, Syxx-Pac, Road Warriors, Rhino, 3D, Christian, Nash, Savage, Hardy, DDP, Sting, Booker, Steiner, Angle, Foley, Hogan, Flair, Hardy, RVD etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Wow; that really sums up TNA. They should be commended for how much they have grown as a company; although with the sheer volume of amazing talent they have on the roster they should be doing much better. You'd gotta think that at some point, the ex-WCW talent will be gone from the TV only leaving younger talent. The Nasties, Hogan and Flair can't stay around on TV forever!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭D2D

    Big surprise??
Al Snow is backstage at the Impact taping in Orlando, Florida working as an agent for the company. I haven't heard if he's getting a tryout or is with the company full-time. He's made cameo appearances for the company before and worked for WWE developmental as a trainer in the past.

    Bring head with him

Flair had such a big send off on WWE that I did think that would be his last match 'fighting'. I thought he would come back to do something with wrestling but not to actually get in the ring again. Sure he must be in his 60's. When I am that age I will be falling asleep on the couch watching tv every night being a nuisance to everybody....

Abyss kissing Hogans Hall of Fame ring and thinking that it has special powers is fairly sad...

I am not a big fan of RVD, but I think he will feature tonight. I heard Goldberg mentioned somewhere?

A cage match will end in disqualification and be a complete and total cluster****.

TNA will air highlights of Bischoffs Midget Wrestling. They think fans will enjoy it more.

that sounds pretty likely alright.. This is shaping up to be a very interesting iMPACT! I wonder are they treating tonight like its basically day 1 and the past few weeks since Jan 4th have ment nothing?

I really can't wait to see what TNA do tonight. The ad breaks are going to be the killing thing though. And to think TNA has a PPV coming up in 2 weeks.

From watching iMPACT live the last few months,i personally dont think the ads are too bad. Their certainly no worse than Raw.. The 3 hour show was a disgrace but tonight definitely wont be that bad, Yeah some matches will really need to be pushed for that PPV!

Gosh I forgot about the ads! Best thing to do it watch it on a 40-minute sky+ delay...so you can skip past most of the ads. For me though i think i'll just watch it tomorrow :)

Is that such a bad thing? :pac::pac: I tried but I couldn't fast-forward through iMPACT because i'd miss too much lol. One thing you can't fault them on is number of storylines...there's like 8 of them per impact, unlike RAW's 2 (3 max, maybe)

The big board backstage at the iMPACT Zone lists an opening segment for tonight as an in-ring angle with the participants of tonight's main event - Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Abyss and AJ Styles.

TNA officials are keeping specific information off the backstage board today so it's possible that there's more to the opening segment than what's listed on the board.

TNA has been heavily hyping the "first 5 minutes" of the show which leads some to believe there may be more to it. It's possible that TNA is keeping things a secret and something is planned to open the show that will push back the in-ring angle with the four wrestlers mentioned. Maybe a former WWE star as a guest ref. in the main event? It could be something along those lines.
