At least Genesis had a main event!

At least Genesis had a main event!

A main event that was done the week before on free TV. TNA's Monday debut is more important than Destination X. Destination X will be a filler show with some good wrestling so whoever buys it won't feel ripped off but TNA are building towards Monday and they're building towards Lockdown.

One could probably safely assume it's a No. 1 Contenders match.

Me too, MMG and the ladder match should be good. I don't understand why if they're pushing Pope (he has a title shot) that he doesn't get it at Destination X, since he's more of an X-D wrestler than Abyss.

I'm down with Pope & Wolfe; although I have a bad feeling that he'd just work the ankle for 15 minutes and get the win; but have a bad match.

With everything TNA is doing that isn't great, at least Anderson's looking really reinvigorated; he's not looked this strong in my eyes since his initial push on SD :) a match with Angle can only do great things.

I think they want to give Pope the shot at Lockdown because it's one of the big three and it's instantly a bigger match. Destination X is actually a really strong card and the build up has been pretty good.

I know what you mean, but he's been put on the back burner since his big win at Against All Odds :( I just worry that the Abyss/AJ thing isn't over and Pope gets his title match as a throw-away match on iMPACT (Kaz-style) instead of main-eventing at the PPV... since it's Abyss' and AJ's first PPV match in this run i'd imagine it's not over...

I suppose it's like Lesnar winning the 2002 KOTR --and so main-evented SSlam 02-- but there was a world title match on the PPV in-between (Vengeance)

Isn't it odd that Flair is with AJ, considering AJ is a straight-laced super-face that is pretty much straight-edge; while Flair is the exact opposite? I would've thought someone like The Pope would be a better fit; who's more flamboyant in his attire etc.

Yea i think Anderson's promos have been great and is feud with Angle has been great. Id say they will have a Team Anderson Vs Team Angle at Lockdown.

Also i would be afraid that since Pope is getting a title shot at Lockdown that they will ad Abyss into the mix , and prob have Abyss win

I think AJ's current title reign is a joke tbh putting him with Flair was a big mistake. Wolfe, Pope or Morgan would have been better with Flair imo.

I kinda thought Wolfe or Morgan would get a title push before Pope or Abyss

I only really ever saw the Abyss match as filler between AAO and Lockdown. Pope doesn't have a match at Des-X so I'd like to see him do commentary for the ME to show his interest in the winner. I doubt we'll be seeing Abyss main eventing until KOTM and I'd say they might do a Team Hogan/Jarrett/Foley vs. Team Bischoff for Lethal Lockdown and Abyss'll slot in there.

Hernandez was due to go to Mexico from the TNT Rumour thread as I recall but this being TNA I don't expect him to lose it until the day before going to Hogan in a handicap match or something.

Only Nash's tag title shot hasn't been used. Joe cashed his in at Against All Odds and Doug Williams cashed the X-title shot in to win the title from Red.

    Written by me!

    7866769176a12196147713l.jpg
    USA : Sunday 21st @ 8pm
    UK/IRE : Friday 26th @ 10pm (Extreme Sports Channel)

So it's time for another TNA PPV. The last month or so seen TNA move to Monday Nights permanently, with the main focus being on Hogan and his boy, Abyss, and Flair and his boy, AJ Styles. Desmonde Wolfe and ankle-injury-selling Pope (who is due to have a TNA title match vs Styles at LockDown) are both off the card, much like the new talent acquisitions Jeff Hardy and RVD. Samoa Joe is still MIA after being abducted by TNA Creative... It seems odd that so little time and effort has been given to the X-Division members, as there are three X-D matches on the show. Despite some odd choices, there's a few really promising match-ups - we're in for an interesting show.

    8a.jpg

Ladder Match : Amazing Red vs. Kazarian vs. Daniels vs. Brian Kendrick
Thrown together last-minute, we'll see the return on X-D wrestlers doing what they do best - a spot match. It's kind of a shame we don't have more wrestlers in this match (Creed and Lethal spring to mind) but there's no doubt these guys will put on a great show. It's the first time we'll see such an X-D heavy match since Bischoff and Hogan's regime started, so it'll be interesting to see if they let the X-D do some crazy spots.
    Prediction : Great spot-filled match.

    6-1.jpg

Tag Title Match : Beer Money vs. Matt Morgan & Hernandez

TNA have been teasing dissention between Morgan and Hernandez, and their inevitable title loss will spin into a feud between the two. It's sad to see these two in a nothing partnership with a nothing feud on the horizon. Both were being groomed as main-eventers previous to January 4th. Beer Money have recently started turning heel by being dissatisfied with how they've been treated (or kayfabe booked) since Jan 4th as well. I can't be too optimistic about the match, as Beer Money will have to have their working boots on, as neither Morgan or Hernandez can really put a compelling match together. Whether TNA think it's time to break up Morgan and Hernandez will dictate the outcome of the match. It's too soon IMO...
Prediction : Good match, not great.

    5a.jpg

KO Title Match : Daffney vs. Tara
Despite both being solid wrestlers (Tara definitely over Daffney), I don't think they are being coached to accentuate their talents. They'll probably only get a few minutes.
    Prediction : Average at best.

    ppv9.jpg

X-D Title Match : Shannon Moore vs. Doug Williams

Doug Williams has had a very quiet reign as X-D champion. Moore is obviously in the spotlight thanks to Jeff Hardy, but I don't think TNA will give him the belt so quickly. I don't know, Moore works best in a supporting role (his stuff with Matt Hardy circa 2003 was hilarious) and I don't think he'll shine as a singles star. But we'll see, anyway. I imagine the two styles of the wrestlers will crash. I'd imagine the pressure will be on Doug to lead the match. I expect it to be a mat-based controlling match, with flashes of top-rope stuff from Shannon.
    Prediction : Average.

    7-1.jpg

Global Title Match : Brutus Magnus vs. Rob Terry
I can see why it was added, but for these guys to be on and not Wolfe and Pope is beyond me. How are we supposed to view The Pope as a credible main-eventer if he isn't on the card? The improving Magnus vs the lummox Terry will hopefully be a short match. I can't imagine this being decent and expect them to do plenty of stalling tactics and shortcuts (i.e. straight to brawling on the outside) :L
    Prediction : Worse than average.

    4-1.jpg

Ultimate X Match for #1 Contendership to the TNA Tag Titles :
Generation Me vs. The Motor City Machineguns

Finally, another proper X-D match. I expect it to steal match of the night. My only worry is Shelly's neck/back, he's been having problems over the last few months. But both tag-teams really gel together and have multiple unique offenses. This should be fantastic.
Prediction : Very Good to Excellent

    3-2.jpg

"The Band" Scott Hall & Sean Waltman vs. Kevin Nash & Eric Young
Stip : If Hall & Waltman win, they earn TNA contracts. If they lose, they have to leave TNA.

It really feels like a Russo swerve, where Nash lays down for Hall, and the three beat up EY. This is probably the best course of action since Hall and Nash can't wrestle to a decent standard. I have to admit I think it's hilarious seeing Hall and Waltman around dumpster trucks and thinking they're God's gift to wrestling. For promos with Nash alone I'd keep 'em. Hopefully it'll be over quick. I'd hope that they form a 4-member group so EY can take some of the slack.
Prediction : Not a wrestling match; all story.

    2-3.jpg

    Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson
The build up (IMO) has been fantastic over since Against All Odds. Kennedy is completely revitalised and is given the space to be as creative as he can be, and it shows. The only problem is that TNA have prematurely shot their load with the angle-killing segment (Anderson being beaten up by marines, and angle, and Angle celebrating) so the feud has lost a bit of steam. Hopefully this will last another 2 months and Anderson gets a much-deserved push in the limelight. The only caveat is if Angle is in good shape for the match. He does turn it on when the cameras do, so hopefully we're in for a 10-15 minute Angle classic.
Prediction : Good to very-good match.

    1-3.jpg

TNA World Title Match : Abyss vs. AJ Styles
Does anyone really care about this? We will however take bets on how long before Hogan or Flair, or both, blade! Gushing blood in a few minutes....friggin carnies :L Expect both Hogan and Flair to interfere; and Styles to have an average match with Abyss. We might even see Wolfe and Pope involved...but they should have their own match... I'd be shocked if AJ didn't retain.
Prediction : Average; depending on the drama with Hogan and Flair, it could be good. In-ring wise i'd expect average.

Well, there you have it! Some definite duds on the card, but there's plenty of storyline in there. Anderson should be brought to his best match in quite some time, Gen Me/MMG will steal the show, Beer Money will put in a decent match, and the ladder match should be great.

I think you're under-rating some of the matches. Young and Waltman are still great workers so as long as they do the bulk of the work with Hall and Nash picking their spots it should be fine. I hope Hall comes out to his old TNA music actually, I love that theme. I think Doug/Moore could be a sleeper for one of the matches of the night plus this is my argument for why the ME will be a great match:

And while you might say they had the cage to help but they've had some really, really good matches on the Weekly PPV's.

Hall looked terrible out there on the last Impact, Nash hasn't had a good match since Turning Point. Waltman can still go and Young is solid, but I wouldn't expect much from that tag.

Williams will struggle to drag Moore to anything above decent I feel. Moore is a cruiserweight from a different era, I reckon his style will be out of fashion against the X Division stars of today. I expect a styles clash like Jayhunter said.

As for the ME, AJ and Abyss have had corkers in the past to be sure, but Abyss has gained a hell of a lot of weight and his body has sustained a severe battering since then. He has failed to not look like shit for years now.

I probably sound over critical, but I'm a bit frustrated with TNA atm. Pope is a star, and his momentum has really been hurt recently IMO.

When was the last time TNA just let Abyss go out and wrestle? He's been booked to do the same formula gimmick matches for five straight years now yet he still manages to make some of them interesting. Abyss when given the chance to go out and wrestle will have a great match, they just never give him that chance. If they limit the no. of distractions in the ME (and based on the ending of iMPACT! Flair shouldn't even be there but he will), it will be a great match.

And how would Moore's style be out of fashion? The X-Division has never been about a single style, it's diversity from an Amazing Red type to a Samoa Joe even a Doug Williams has always been it's calling card. I don't see how Moore could look out of place. Just look at his great series of matches on Smackdown and ECW a few years back with Jimmy Yang vs. Morrison and Miz. Moore is another guy that'll have a great match if given the chance and time.

I know what you mean about Hall and Nash but I think EY and Waltman are good enough workers to pull out a good match. Just my opinion though.
