We bought a house in Macroom but our solicitor was based in Dublin. We saved over €500 by using them. I wouldn't just restrict myself to getting one local, have a good shop around. The only inconvenience about having our solicitor in Dublin was that we had to travel up to sign all the papers, this was only one visit and was worth the €500 saving!
