Just noticed that there was no thread for it.

Bit surprised by the team today. Looks like Masch could be right back.

Reina, Mascherano, Aurelio, Agger, Carragher, Lucas, Gerrard, Benayoun, Kuyt, Rodriguez, Torres.

Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, Babel, Insua, Ngog, Kelly, Ayala.

Nice to see Torres back in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

    Back four looks to be

    Masch---Carra---Agger----Aurelio.

    Stunned at that.

You just beat me to it Kess !!

Great to see Torres starting in a game we must win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

    Mascherano at RB lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

I've many problems with that team:

Macherano at RB and no Kelly
    No Aquilani
    Maxi
    No Babel

Great to see Torres back though.

I can see this being a boring 1-0.
Pity to see Mach at RB, he's much better in the middle but I guess is he really needed? Surely Lucas and Gerrard will be able to deal with Blackburns midfield.

    Pepe
    Masch---Carra---Agger----Aurelio
    Lucas---Gerrard
    Kuyt
    Yossi----Maxi---
    Torres

    or

    Pepe
    Masch---Carra---Agger----Aurelio
    Yossi
    Lucas---Gerrard---Maxi
    ----Kuyt---Torres----

Look to be the likely formations

glad to see Maxi get a chance in a game where we're likely to have a lot of possession, exactly the kind of game he was bought for imo. would've like to see aquilani and kelly feature but **** it. Delighted to see Torres back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Hope it means that Torres is fully fit and not rushed back. Because if that boy is fully fit, he means goals.

In reality, we have an extra attacking player added to the team, with Gerrard back in CM and Yossi off the striker, which can only be a good thing

Hope we paste Blackburn today. Love hearing Sam whinge after we beat one of his teams.

    From BBC
"I wonder if Benitez will walk past Big Sam's outstretched hand. Cameras will be on that one too."

    :D

anyone elses YES stream audio gone?

    Nevermind, Back.

Pity we dont have the Greek today, would have been the type of game to suit him down to the ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

decent first ten minutes. Nothing major happening but Liverpool look up for it so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Lucas playing well so far. If you did not know who he was partnered with in the centre then you would think that he was the senior player by how he has done so far.

Pissed off Aquaman didn't start midweek if Rafa had no intention on starting him today. How the hell does he expect his star signing to come good?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

oooh bit of a warning there for Liverpool. Lucas got caught on the ball just after I praised him and Blackburn had a nice break that ended in a shot wide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Torres looks sharp and well up for it. Took three players there to get the ball from him. Ending in a yellow for the blackburn player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,283 ✭✭✭Glico Man

Kalinic looking quite good for Rovers, but Torres looking sharp for us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Ah no Aquilani again today. Babel deserves to sit on the bench after scoring during the week. The cheek of him.

Anyway, really really surprised that Kelly or Greeky didn't start.

    Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Aquilani situation is really starting to puzzle me, and I'm getting a spot of dejavu as its eerily similar to Keane, last season.

The thing is, Rafa really cant afford for Aquilani to be a failure, so I dont know why he isnt giving him more game time to acclimatize. If you look at Rafas most recent signings serious questions are raised.

    Maxi
    Johnson
    Aquilani
    Degen
    Dossena
    Keane
    Riera

    1-0n Gerrard.

Great move. Yossi, Gerrard, Torres and co swapping passes in a quick break, and Gerrard slots it away. Lovely stuff.

    Much better by our captain.

    Good move, good finish.

    Goal Stevie G!!!!

Great one two between Kuyt and Gerrard, ball goes out to Yossi and he plays in the captain

    Much Much better from Gerrard!

Blackburn are playing really high up the pitch and could leave themselves open for moere.

Whoa good work twice there by Pepe. Blackburn almost hit right back.

Good job he wasn't dropped then ;)

Blackburn are not learning at the back. I defo can see them getting carved open a few more times today.

    The Greek is suspended

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

I think Torres is the difference today. Everywhere he goes he is dragging two players with him and it is leaving massive gaps for Blackburn, and the way Torres is moving alll over the place so far, Kuyt, Yossi, and Gerrard are getting acres of space.

Torres looks up for it and the Blackburn defence knows it.

Have to say that everyone look well up for it today.

Maxi should have done better with his cutback, but still good play from him.

Nasty attempt by Diouf. Would expect no less from that cretin.

    They have to be.

The other teams around us aren't falling away as many said they would.

I notice the divs who were calling for that recently are very quiet at the moment.

We seem to be playing very well in this 4-4-2 formation. Lots of movement and short dissecting passes.

    Good stuff:)

People, including myself, who called for him to be rested based on his rubbish form were entitled to their opinion on him. It does not make them divs, nor does it make them retarded as you said last week.

    It makes you wrong Kess.

It was very obvious that are team had too many bad players in it (N'Gog, Insua, Lucas et al), Gerrard wasn't one of them. We've got less of them in it this week and we're better for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

More important that what people said about whatever in the past is the fact that I think we are passing the ball better today than at any other point in the season to date.

    Much crisper and quicker.

Yes, they can also see we're sixth in the league and were out of the CL, FA Cup and Carling Cup before Xmas.

    Ah jaysus, Fabio injured again

Look if you think Gerrard has been good this season, then that is your opinion. I think he has been brutal this season, but that he is playing very well today, as is that other bad player you mentioned, Lucas.

Right now I only give a damn about what is happening on the pitch, I will happily debate whatever you want about Gerrard or the season so far with you in the LFC superthread later.
