Vegetable stock?

    Sorry I think this is a bit of a stupid question but just wondering if we should stay away from vegetable stock? We use the Boots organic one for babies, ingredients: org vegetable fat, organic maize starch, yeast extract, org onion (6%), org carrot (4.5%), org leek, organic celery, organic herbs, organic garlic, organic spices.

    The main ingredient is vegetable fat and I'd imagine that's corn or sunflower or God knows what... We only use a small amount of it, like half a cube every second day. Any opinions anyone?

    I'm not sure if you meant that post to have a bit of a tone, with that particular emoticon - it's hard to tell on a messageboard. If so, it's totally uncalled for. If not, ignore what I've just said. Moving on:

    I'd agree with Khrystyna - half a stock cube every two days is nothing to worry about. It's vegetables and spices and a tiny amount of vegetable fat, work away!

    If you're really worried, you could try making your own stock. Then you know exactly what goes into it. Packaged stock cubes are convenient though.

    Gosh I wasn't being sarcastic, I do worry too much, the face was about me worrying! Why would I be sarcastic if you were being helpful? I really do not understand what goes on in this forum, never saw anything like it.

    I think its the gosh - I read it and thought ah bless he is like me and is a worrier but the gosh is a bit odd and can be construed as sarcasm but I am not sacrastic and don't get it but somepeople have an eye for it!!!! Its the problem with messages!!!!!!!!!

    Ha ha no this: :rolleyes: is the roll eyes and says sarcastic when you move your cursar over it when you are writing your reply to a thread.

    LOL yer a gas, I sometimes think these emoticans cause more trouble than they're worth! It kinda is used for doh!!! too but you'd only be using it in a first person context in that situation, when referring/responding to another persons post it implies that you are being sarcastic in you response. :D
    I hate this little f*cker: :cool: ppl almost always look like muppets in sunglasses!

    Yes me too that's the way I interpret it but in any case it's a sad state of affairs when one has to go down to "interpret" an emoticon. Maybe it's easier of we don't assume the worst... the roll eyes was directed towards myself! I have no reason to be hostile or confrontational... in fact I am probably the least confrontational person you've ever met. I hate arguments!

    This one's not a weight loss book, the description's a bit misleading that way but it's about eating a vegan diet and maximising the focus on nutrient density of ones diet, by minimising the consumption of the least nutritious foods like cereal grains etc. He advocates eating 2lbs of fresh fruit and veg a day, half of it being raw and advises you get the bulk of your fat from fresh nuts and seeds rather than pressed oils. Anyway I love this book, more because it really made me re-evaluate the true healthfulness of my own diet and made me realise that as I healthy as I thought I was there was still plenty of room for improvement which gave me a good boot up the arse. There's a second book as part of the set that's just meal plans and recipes too.

    I'm near the end of this one myself, it's a great book for teaching you how to critically analyse all the conflicting nutritional/health information we're bombarded with from every direction without needing to go off and study the theory of the scientific method. Goldacre is so funny too, really enjoyable read but a bit disturbing at times. There's a chapter each dedicated to debunking Gillian McKeith and Patrick Holford which is why I bought it initially. :D
