Anyone know if there's some online channel you can watch this on Saturday? Poxy Cycling.tv is only showing Kuurne - Brussels - Kuurne the next day.

Wonder how likely it is there'll be coverage of the women's version. Probably not likely at all.

Very much doubt they'll show the women's version. I'm not sure if the women's Tour of Flanders is even shown.

It will be interesting to see how Michelle Geoghegan gets on in the race.

She's riding for Moving ladies I think.

I've read there are over 240 starters in the womens race

Thanks guys. Plenty of options there so hopefully I'll get lucky. I'm a bit steamed about cycling.tv. I'd been looking forward to seeing Het Nieuwsblad. They haven't even published their 2010 schedule yet, which means it's hard to decide to whether to renew my subscription or not.

Now starts the gentle balancing act of doing races, watching races and having a life.

I seriously doubt it, which is a shame because it would be great to see Michelle make her debut.

    Predictions?

Gilbert Haussler Pozzato, not sure which one Boonen is riding

Haussler has a dodgy knee I heard.

You'd always look at Quick Step for this race and they've got some serious firepower with Boonen, Devolder and Chavanel, but the way things have gone the last few years, Quick Step have always blown it in the Het Nieuwsblad and then won KBK the next day.

Aside from Haussler's injury, Hushovd appears to have been sick recently, so might not be a day for Cervelo. Boasson Hagen was going well in Oman and you'd think Sky would be keen to start their debut season with a few wins. I'd watch Farrar and Pozzato. Maybe even Bennati. Rabobank have a strong team too, but invariably mess it up.

An Post Sean Kelly team will be riding this as well.

What about Oscar Freire? He's notched a few in Andalucia.

    I think Boason-Hagen will win.

All the big names are here,so it should be interesting. An Post boys will have their work cut out to hang on I'd say..

    For the win !?

He's a good sprinter and decent on cobbles..but still in a different league to the favourites. Will still be good to see the jersey in a race this big.

While I think Eeckhout is the most likely one from An Post to have a good showing, it's a big ask at this stage of his career to get a win in a race like this.

I think Cancellara could be a tip for one of the classics this season, are Quickstep riding this ? Devolder and Boonen have the legs I think ..

Cancellara claims he's going for Flanders this year.

While he'll be riding for some of the bigger names on the team, I'd like to see Russell Downing do well. Who knows, he might be sent to marshall an early break that manages to stay away. AFAIK it's his first Classic, he's riding KBK the following day too.

I would have thought roubaix would have suited him more. It's a big horsepower ride that's needed to splinter the front group that the selection is normally made from. He's been 2nd to Boonen at roubaix before ? So I certainly think he has the testicular fortitude for the pave. Boonen is always expected to win one of the classics which means it's easy to sit on him and wait for him to make a move.

Have garmin got anyone worth talking about ? From sky I fancy Simon Gerrans to get away if there is a break.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

He's said before that he gets bored trying to win the same stuff all the time. So he targets different classics every year. I think he said he wants to win all five monuments. He's already done Paris - Roubaix and Milan - Sanremo. This is next on the list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

He looked pretty bummed when he broke his chain last year.

I punctured in the last few km of our club championship last year when I was feeling pretty good. Admittedly our group was going for third place and not first in a monument, so yes, I'd be bummed too.

Yes he has been quite definite on this. Should be a great race (as always, probably my favourite classic) Still remember his great win in Paris Roubaix. It was the first time I became aware of his awesome power. DeVolder Boonen Pozzato and Gilbert of course will do their best to prevent him win at Flanders.

Can't find the start list for Saturday's race?

Cycling.tv are now promising "live audio". As they say in Clondalkin, it's better than a kick in the b****cks. Paired with video from another source and it might work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭Home:Ballyhoura

Anyone got a live video feed that works?

EDIT: This is the best that I could get...the rest I came across all seem to be what they call geo restricted. This this and this

This says that a live stream will be available shortly. Got it thru steephilll.tv

Also says in Belgian style language on Sporza.be that it will be there. The race only seems to have started so a bit too early

Couple of links for live feeds here
    http://www.cyclingfans.com/node/642

Says live coverage starts between 1 and 1.30 GMT.

Weather there at the moment is 9 degrees with light drizzle and low wind.

I hope Flecha wins. Not only does he deserve it, but he has one of my favourite victory salutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 370 ✭✭godihatedehills

    Who's winning?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

For a few minutes I actually thought Gilbert was leading and Flecha was chasing him. That's what happens when you don't pay attention :o

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

    Who's winning?
Flecha, being chased by Gilbert, Roelandts and Gusedon.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

7km to go and Flecha's got 40 seconds.
