    hi guys

been trying to clean up my diet the last couple of weeks, so im eating more salads and veg, while cutting out starchy foods like bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. I dont eat meat or chicken, but i eat eggs, fish, tofu and have recently added more nuts and seeds to my diet for protein.

Its going well but i cant get rid of my craving for sweet food particularly chocolate. These cravings always hit me in the evenings after dinner. Up until now, ive been succumbing to a couple of digestives with jam (not ideal i know :o) or natural yoghurt with walnuts and honey (which i think is pretty healthy right?).
Im getting a bit bored of the yogurt though and i'd like to stop eating the digestives too....but is there anything i could eat that would be sweet but still healthy. I know fruit is sweet but it doesnt stop my cravings unfortunately.

I feel like if i could just find something to satisfy my sweet tooth, the rest of my diet could be pretty good - I really like veg and im not missing the bread, rice etc.. at all.

    thanks:)

Go for really dark chocolate. Anything over 70% is a bone fide health food (though watch the calories) but the darker it is, the less sugar it has, the more anti-oxidants, and the less you are inclined to binge on it.

As we speak, I have half a bar of 99% sitting in my kitchen, which will last me another two days.

thanks for the replies. Popcorn with honey - thats interesting, ill try find unsalted popcorn and give it a go.

As for dark choc, unfortunately i dont really like it that much :o ...maybe its just not sweet enough for me. But perhaps its an acquired taste, plus it would go down nice with a cup of tea i guess.

I could have written your post. I buy black and green's 85% chocolate but sometimes I can really binge on it which is not good of course. Sometimes I go for yougourt-coated apricots/peanuts/watever. Not ideal I know but there's worse I think. I am eagerly awaiting other people's responses.

On the dark choc thing - i used to think it was mank. it grew on me. i worked my way up. started at 55%, then 60% and eventually when i found 60% too sweet, up to 70% and so on. I now find 70% very sweet and have 80,85 or 90%.

There is a snack out there called raw nakd food bar - most have dried fruit and nuts/seeds as the ingredients - nothing else. Handy snack if it will stop you binging on dairy milk. if you have a CC you can also get lara bars from amazon. Along the same lines as the raw food bars - just dried fruit and nuts seeds. I also think i remember seeing a bar called wallabybar in some health shop where the main ingredients were nuts and seeds, not sure though.

I like freezing dark chocolate and then sucking a square of it every now then if I get a craving for chocolate. Sugar free jelly is also a great "cheat" food.

+1 on the nakd bars. Their main ingredient is dates which is why they're sweet, and probably have too much (natural) sugar, but better than a dairy milk! I like coco loco the best these days :)

Those wallaby bars are nice but think they have glucose/syrup stuff added...could be wrong though.

I buy organix cereal bars for the kids. Most of them have oats but there's one variety that is only banana and date, nothing added. They're gorgeous, Tesco and Boots have them but not always and not all varieties. They're difficult to find! They're in the baby food section.

Oh and they're way cheaper than the adult versions too.
