    Hello all,

My name is Alan and I am a sports promoter from Ireland but I work in the UK and US and also on the continent.
I do however live in Ireland. I love Wrestling and after talking with friends I have met over the years today I
confirmed the first ever Wrestlezone Ireland.

    Attending the event will be:
    Mick Foley,
Million Dollar Man Ted Dibase along with bodyguard Virgil,
    WWE Diva Lilian Garcia,
The greatest Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion of all time The Honky Tonk Man,
    Brutus The Barber Beefcake,
    Tito Santana,
    Rick Martel,
    The Genius Lanny Poffo.

I am also waiting on confirmation on the Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart to attend our show. I spoke to Jimmy last night and although it looks good I cannot confirm it as yet.

Get to meet and greet your Wrestling heroes in Ireland for the first time ever. Ask them any questions, get your picture taken, get a personalised autograph and just have a laugh with them.

Event to be held in Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, Co.Kildare on Sunday and Sunday 6th and 7th November 2010.The day will last from 9am until 5pm and everyone will have loads to do and see and speak too in these 8hours with a break for lunch.

WEBSITE will be launched in 2 weeks time with all the details of the event. I will submit the exact web address just before the official launch. You can see the Superstars leave personal messages to their Irish fans on the site.

    Many thanks,
    Alan.

Sounds good but hopefully isnt like SOME other conventions in the past...visa issues etc!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

With all respects, I would not cross the road to see any of the above for free, bar DiBiase, let alone pay for it. Best of luck with it though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭Ireland2010

No Visa issues here I can tell ya. I have done lots of work on it so far. I know the thing in the UK recently had Visa issues.....or had it?

I had nothing to do with promoting that though I can assure you.

If that happened as far as I'd be concerned it would be money back.

Anybody wants to call me about anything you can get me on 086 3346732.

I know it's early days, but have you any idea on the price of admission your considering to charge?

Not yet Vince but I aim to keep it as low as possible and I will aim to acheive a cheap value for money price too. The site will be launched in 2-3 weeks and I will have this negotiated by then. I was just letting people know it was an upcoming event.

November I might be able to do; really depends on the specifics of the meet & greet, as I'm in Dublin. If I'm not there, best of luck with it!

Ah now, you'd definitely say hello to Foley!

I agree with Gimmick...DiBiase and Santana would be the only draw there for me.
I wouldn't take Ron Farris's word for gospel anyway :pac:

With all respects yourself, thats one of the most miserable posts i've read in a while.
Its great people like OP are actually promoting this business, its a pity people like gimmick just want to whine about it.
OP, best of luck with it.

Many thanks Dinny. I aim to please. It will be a success. I have put lots of work into finalising it and erasing any potential problems before I mentioned it so its all good and everything is ready to go.

Must have him in the mobile as Honky as well.

Hahahaha. I knew what he meant lads. My point was its not Roy Farris thats promoting this.Unlike other conventions in the UK/US and on the Continent I have all this in Contract hence the email about sorting problems before I put out the news of the upcoming event. And he is in my phone as HTM.:)
Don't worry. He will be there as will the rest. I can gaurantee that. Doing this 8 years so I know a thing or 2 about it.

Best of luck with it. The roster looks pretty decent and should do well if it is priced competitively.

I would def be up for heading to this? Any idea on prices? At the same time i would be a bit wary handing over money when wrestling shows/conventions in this region of the world have a tradition of cancelling without trace. Lets hope that you get enough interest in it. Best of luck and fair play for organising it

Thank you Joe. Don't panic. I have early bird offers available when I have the website launch. Put it this way, it will be alot cheaper than any UK convention. As I say I aim to keep it very affordable and I hope you will enjoy it. I think you will. Thanks again, Alan....

Twiz, thank you for posting. This is a 100% runner. I am dedicated to this show as personally as a wrestling fan I think Ireland deserves it. As I said in an earlier post as I work all over the world I have made contacts to allow me to promote this but may I add it is all under contract. Please don't compare this to the UK conventions or the continent ones as it will be of a higher volume, higher intensity and higher value for money. You can also see and hear personal invites via my site from the superstars attending. Many thanks, Alan.

    Many thanks, Alan.

You can sign your name "Alan" all you want but we know you're really The Honky Tonk Man.:pac:

Price depending I'm going to make an effort to go to this.

I could have said my name was Ron Farris. I always thought it was Roy myself:pac:. Thanks Joe, I think I can benefit any wrestling fans interest with my price. I hope Jimmy will confirm asap too as he is a good lad. Please come and when you see the site I think you will look forward to it. Many thanks for your support too mate. Appreciate it as do the superstars. No short skirts for Lilian though:). Thanks again.

I will go and spend loads of money if you bring the Iron Sheik, that I can promise you

A big point is I'd like to know if it'll be a flat fee to get in, and getting autographs are free, or if it's a fee to get in, and pay a variable rate for each autograph/picture. Thanks!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34 TKT

Might be interested in something like this...is this roster finalised (as in i know jimmy hart might be added but other than that do you expect to add more wrestlers)
also i'd be ineterested to know is it a flat fee or do you pay per autograph etc.

Kinda annoyed it's in Kildare tho' :), for a corkman who doesn't drive it might be awkward getting to kildare!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭mitchmeister

HONKY is WAYNE FERRIS not 'ron'!

anyway dont mind the people puttin ya down on here mate, I think it's a GREAT idea having something like this in Ireland, where we don't usually get conventions here! I'd be interested so would my mates and we live in Dublin, it be a laugh drivin down, get locked and rip the piss with brutei!

anyway fair play and best of luck!

I am not interested in this "vendor" lark like they do in the UK to milk people for every cent. I am a sports promoter and above all a wrestling fan and I will adhere to my policy to have a straight fee which includes access to all the superstars. No superstar is bigger than the other.

Your a rebel are ya. Don't worry. Maynooth is a university town and on the main Irish rail line so access is first class. Regarding the fee, it will be a flat rate. I am not interested in milking fans like myself for every cent. The fee will cover cost and thats it. No extras, no vendors, no nonsense. It is not the final roster either. I have one or two chances to escalate the line up and I will try my best. Put is this way, it was £168 sterling to see Wrestleslam3 ( before Vendors). I won't be charging anything near that and my lineup is first class.

Wasnt it £15 on the door then 10-25 for a pic or autograph? If its in Maynooth that would work as it is easlily accessable for people around the country.
    Whats the story with vendors?

I will pass out this date to the Maynooth locals. I lived in Maynooth for 4 years and there was a healthy fan base. The Leinster arms used to have ppv nights.

Going there today for a bevvy and the rugby and will let the old wm posse know.

Meh, no credit and not too interested. Some people just seem very excited by the whole thing. We know nothing about this Alan other than he claims to have experience in promotion, yet there has been no evidence to back up this claim, and that he wasn't too sure of The Honky Tonk Man's real name.

Any links to your previous work, Alan? Give us a brief history of your promotional work

If this is this case, fair play to you, thats very impressive. Again no offence, but I'm sure you can understand the scepticism. It's a dodgy world in the world of wrestling.

Do you plan on bringing more names over, in addition to those you have already mentioned?

Indeed, hopefully one or two more that I have in mind. One is huge too but we will have to see maybe around June or July I will make a call on it.
