I'm working in Dublin city center for the next few weeks on and off, can anyone recommend a pay as you go gym with a decent weights area? I have looked through old posts on gym reviews but most focus on membership gyms. It would be nice if it was pretty close to the city center but I'd consider somewhere further out. A pool, sauna etc. would be nice too :D

Raw is supposed to be good, but it has a pricey PAYG of €15.

Markievicz is a Local authority gym near Tara st station, which is about €7 I think but not the best weights area.

Not sure bout any other, but I think there is one or two.

There's also the YMCA on Aungier Street but it has become pricey as well (10 Euro I think) and it's small with poorly maintained equipment.

That's gone. Last time I looked, it was closed up and the window was broken.

Countess Markievicz gym is not the nicest place in the world to workout.
Allthough can be quite amusing to watch the skinny methadone freaks lifting dumbells !

The YMCA is ok. As was said, not the best maintained gym, but you get what you pay for!!

Just bought a RAW 12 passes for 100 quid and had first workout there. Excellent equipment - plenty heavy weights, punchbags, kettlebells etc. heavy metal sounds not to all tastes but certainly adds to the atmosphere of a proper blokes gym! A blessed relief from the silver dumbbells, towels and tvs money grabbing supergyms that took in Celtic Tiger era IMO
