    Hey,
I'm starting GAA in a month or so(will explain in a minute). I play corner back and would like some advice on a fitness plan for this as I'm kind of clueless in this area.
I recently suffered from glandular fever and have been advised to avoid contact sports for at least a month, so i assume that any training i would be doing would need to be fairly light?

    Cheers.

    Sorry for the delay

Well my diet has been basically nothing for the past two weeks due to the sickness and i have only just started eating again.

    My normal diet would be;

    Breakfast:
    Bowl of Cereal(Cheerios)
    Glass of apple juice

    Lunch:
    Cheese sandwich(wholemeal bread)
    Orange drink

    Dinner:
Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Curry, Pasta with stir in sauces, chicken and chips, roast beef/chicken...along those lines
    Glass of milk

I've recently cut out the daily bag of taytos.

    Any recommendations welcome:D

are you actually trying to lose weight / fat or gain muscle? or just improve fitness? either way the diet is poor TBH. stick to good carbs like porridge and whole fruit over juices. you dont seem to be eating any vegetables which is a bad idea. lunch = very little nutritional value. dinner looks like it could be a load of processed foods..

Too much bread/starchy carbs and sugar.

Aim to eat protein and some fruit or veg at every meal for a start.

I can't speak about the glandular fever, but if you're in any way in need of improved fitness you need to get stronger as well. Squats, deads, presses, etc should form the basis of your regime.

You need to be more specific that saying that you want to improve general fitness. Everybody wants to do that. What are your week points, strength, speed, stamina?
