At least the camber matches made WM clearer. Sheamus vs. HHH, Punk vs. Mysterio, Edge vs. Jericho, Cena vs. Batista, something based around Legacy and 'Taker vs. HBK and for me that sounds like a really strong card but I have to say that second hour was completely useless and very boring.

    http://www.pwinsider.com/article/45272/main-eventer-hurt-in-pyrotecnic-accident-tonight.html?p=1
The Undertaker suffered burns to his chest during a pyrotechnic malfunction during his entrance when flames reached and burned his jacket as he came out for the Elimination Chamber main event. Taker immediately ripped off his jacket and quickly moved away from the pyro. When he got to the ring, he doused himself with water before working as scheduled.

WWE sources indicated that when Taker returned to the locker room, he was extremely upset and yelling about the situation while management tried hard to calm the matter, which was an obvious accident.

can someone give me the low down of who won please

Interesting read about teh Undertaker. Apart from both Chamber matches I though it was a pretty poor show TBH. A lot of filler and playing for times with some of the matches.

Cena won WWE title and then Batista beat him for the title

    Jericho won WHC title

Taker v Shawn II has to have something epic on the cards, or else there is absolutely no point in devaluing the original.

    Jericho/Edge for the title.

    Punk/Mysterio (with Punk going over).

these two things will make me happy at WM.

Cena/Batista had better have something else to it.

oh, and it's not even close anymore, Punk is the absolute single most awesomest thing about WWE.

a f*cking legend that guy is.

I ended up going to bed because of this. Will watch the second chamber when it comes on shortly on the rerun. Enjoyed the 1st chamber and the Batista twist.

Janey, saw footage of that 'taker accident. Don't blame the guy for yelling - I'd be fking furious - and fair play to him for putting on a good match after that.

So Sheamus' title run is no more. I fear it may be his last. He's being teed up for a vintage HHH burial - not to mention the extent to which he's slapped around by Orton.

I'm really looking forward to Jericho-edge (provided both men are fit) but the rest of the Wrestlemania matches have me a little underwhelmed. Just a quick question - do people think they're turning Dibiase or Orton face in this feud?

Taker is a ****ing trooper, gets blasted by a pyro and still works a match

how the hell did batista end up with the title and more importantly why

The thing about HBK/Taker II is whats the point if Taker wins? To be honest if Taker's streak was to end I would prefer they would give it to someone who needed the rub. I think most will agree with the card but their is one man missing,,,

    Hunter.
I want to see a Mania match with him where the title is nowhere just to see how he does, it would be a refreshing change especially after the debacle of a match he had with Orton last year. I still would not be surprised if he weaseled into the Cena or Taker match.:(:(

In fairness this is the best Batista has ever been. A big cocky git who knows he can beat all the top guys and laughs at everyone else.

So does John Cena now claim ownership to the shortest WWF/WWE title reign in history?

Didn't Jeff have it for a minute or so before Punk cashed in his MITB last year?

Apparently André had a 45 second reign before "selling" the title to Ted DiBiase and Yokozuna had a 127 second reign at Wrestlemania IX.

Cena seemed to have the belt for slightly longer than that last night anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,729 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Yeah, I would have preferred Batista somehow entering the EC match (with help from Vince) and winning the title there. Giving Cena a short reign like that when he'll most likely defeat Batista at WM is pointless

First chamber match was very good, nice twist at the end. HHH v Sheamus is now even less appealing without a title on the line. The middle of the show was just awful filler, Mcintyre and Kane wasnt anything you wouldnt see on Smackdown and the Divas match was just bland. Miz/Mvp was ok, but I hate how ShoMiz is just a replacement for Jerishow, right down to the same endings of their matches. (Big Show right hand behind the refs back).

Second chamber match was very poor-no point R-Truth being in it and Punk was eliminated way too early. Only Taker seemed to be switched on everyone else seemed to have an off day. Funny how every match that Jericho wins a world title in is rubbish.

Gutted we arent getting HBK v HHH at Mania.

On a side note Ive posted an almost identical thread in the WM26 thread but its hidden behind the spoiler text there.

I would agree with most of that, but I think you are been a little harsh on Rey and Jo Mo, both were fun to watch. :o

Probably, maybe I was just expecting more from them.

What was the more impressive bump on to the steel?
Cenas FU on Dibiase/Ortan DDT on HHH or Reys Hurrancarana on Punk?

**** PPV only good part I can take from it is that Sheamus might face HHH at Mania, and just might avoid being buried.

Apperently taker went on the warpath after the match, took 20+ people to calm him down. People wonder why taker gets so much love in WWE. Dude gets light on fire and just goes on as if nothing happened kinda, any other superstar that happens to they'd have EMT's out there and the show would stop!

Not a fan of Takers, but Kudos sir!

    breaks a chamber door

    breaks the cage! falls out

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c86CjIGzln8

    - lemme say man if the richest roadshow on earth can't fund faultless props, they can gtf with charging us €22 for yet another pointless PPV when an episode of Raw is better. i actually thought the fella from down the road Seamus was goin to WM as champ but noooo... yet another PPV to squeeze out.

    Is that Big Daddy V?
    That was 2008.
    Anywho....
Shows how reliable Taker is that he wrestled even after being burned.

according to those on the ground last night jackson didn't have the title in his possession or at any of the house shows during the week, seems the ecw title has been laid to rest

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 937 ✭✭✭Icky Thump

yea the title was retired on wwe.com after the last episode of ecw. there is no ecw title but id love the hardcore title back:( wont happen under the pg crap but we can dream.

last night the chambers where cool but im pissed that i paid for that PPV. seriously you pay full wack for 2 big matches and 2 medium title matches with 1 weak womens "match". and the PPV is on for 2 hours 45 mins........... half hour more than RAW. what a joke.

fair play to Taker for fighting on but i wouldnt say he didnt break characther.......... he did after all run to the ring:D but i dont think any of us would walk if we where on fire. maybe they should "malfunction" Takers pyro more often. at least its a change to his boring entrance:D(guys a legend but that entrance is boring now. his persona is boring and out dated. more drawn out than NWO).

i dont actually think we should set fire to Taker doh:D just for the record

:eek:Taker was really lucky. Just as he starts to run away, you can see the flames roll off him. What a fcuking legend.

Michaels will probably say he did it on purpose!

so you dont like Jeff Hardy Jumping from a 20 foot ladder?? Eddie Guerrero climbing the stell cage and then turning around to jump back at his opponent. or Shane o mac jumping from the titantron 40 foot high????

the hardcore "crap" was excellent. it made alot of wrestlers careers

    Mick Foley
    Tommy Dreamer
    Hardy Boyz
    Edge and Christian
    The Dudleys

even to an extent the like of HBK, stone cold, the rock, Undertaker, Benoit, Jerico and HHH have all made a name for themselves been involved in hardcore type matches.

in fact i would have loved ECW to turn into a hardcore show again. could have made it 2 hours and brought in the hardcore tag titles aswell.

but back to the PPV last night i though JO Mo was pretty good. delighted that punk was eliminated earlier:D i cant stand him. and as for someone above saying he will turn heel for the Mysterio match????????????????? he is already heel.............................

The number of careers it broke and the bad influence it set for the wrestling industry in general outweighs the stars it created and I'd argue that all but Dreamer and Matt Hardy had the natural talent to make it to the top anyway. Garbage 'wrestling' has no place in wrestling. Gimmick matches have their place but just throwing them out for no reason is reprehensible.

A "hardcore" spot is fine every now and then in a high profile match but I don't want to see a guy get seriously injured doing some dive or fall in a meaningless match that will be forgotten about 5 minutes later.

I was actually expecting Micheals to attack R Truth, like Edge with Kingston last year. And when I was watching it with my friend, I actually said "I'm still expecting Micheals to get involved somehow", then about 10 seconds after I said it, out he pops :P

I was kinda surprised about the Raw chamber ending, I really thought Cena wouldn't win, though when Batista came out it made much more sense. Will Batista switch to Raw now though?

Was disappointed with the IC match, mainly cause I really do not like McIntyre.

And the Divas match, they really need to make someone a champ, I don't like this rivalry, the title has been vacant for 2, nearly 3 months at this stage.

yea i guess thats why ECW original was so unpopular:rolleyes:

you may call it "garbage" wrestling but there are differnt types of wrestling

    Dreamer was a hardcore type
Rey Mysterio is a high flyer type
    HHH is a Brawler
    Kurt Angle is a grappler
Ken Shamrock was more martial arts type

all differnt types but all styles of wrestling none the less.

saying that Hardcore has no place is like stating that high flying has no place. after all original wrestling has no place for anyong going to the top off the ropes..................

A lot of ECW was pure rubbish and hardcore is not a style of wrestling. It requires no skill to throw yourself off a balcony or hit somebody with something. Plus ECW set a terrible trend in the wrestling industry with people thinking that they could by stars be practically killing themselves with little to no training by taking bumps that shouldn't be taken. Any idiot can hurt somebody. Hardcore has ended careers and put some careers in great jeopardy.

yea i totally agree with that. i agree with what your saying to a degree. i just think that it is a style since using a weapon is just an extention to using your hand. its still about taking hits and jumping from high drops whether its hardcore or not. wrestling in what we call wrestling is about entertaining with the fights. sure i understand what you mean about shortening careers. we can look at Foley and see that injuries certainly slowed hime down. but look at Austin he got injuries through normal matches

And putting people in such a scenario that needlessly increases the risk of getting injured is the problem, wrestling is dangerous enough. I'm not completely against the use of gimmick matches in wrestling, but only when a feud reaches a level that deserves it (which is my main problem with the concept PPV's), not for some worthless mid-card title that earns nobody any money.

im totally against the concept PPV's. i think they devalue the Gimmicks matches. i think that if there was Hardcore titles then obviously the wrestlers involved would know that they are in for a shorter career.

that being said i love the x division over in TNA aswell.

having gimmick divisions shouldnt be frowned upon

But how can you justify shortening peoples careers for a title that nobody ever pays to see. Gimmick matches (including all kinds of hardcore matches) should only be used in a position where money can be made.

money was made at one night stand wasnt it?? cash was made at extreme rules???

im sure if ECW was turned into the real ECW on SYFY it would get ratings. specially if you brought back teams like team 3D or brought in the likes of the guns or "generation me"(i love that name) from TNA. having the likes of the old hardys jumping around high flying would be class. i dont mean extreme as in hit everyone with a sledge every match. i just mean stuff like high flying extreme moves. push the boundaries a bit. make fans stand up and go "wow" or "holy sh*t, holy sh*t".
