Will this yoke work with Meteor Ireland? Also, anybody have any idea of the weight or dimensions? Thanks in advance ;)

It will work meteor, o2 vodafone and tesco.

The dimensions are on the last line of basquille post ;)

OK, I just bought it there thanks for that. I cycle a lot, even in rain, so this seems perfect for what I want while out on the bike training, just to be able to make and receive the odd emergency call (even text) and not to really care if it gets damaged! Cheers ;)

I will let you know how I get on when I receive it.

Tempted to get that as a festival phone, as you'd be a bit less gutted if you lost that instead of a blackberry...
    Funny looking yoke though!:p

Battery life looks a bit crap too, but then again it might actually last the 90 hours if you don't have data usage constantly eating away at the battery

    Super!

I had bought a phone for work from dealextreme over the summer for €25 this seems like a much better deal with a higher quality phone. Considering I lost my personal phone last month quite a necessary purchase too :D

    Cheers

Just found this phone for anyone who has a uk address

Came across that one too when researching the VX1 (also the VX2 which looks a lot nicer! :p)

Anyway, it can be got on O2 for €19.99 if you buy €10 O2 credit which isn't too bad either! I might go for that if that VX1 turns out to be an absolute disgrace! At least I could just divert all calls to the new O2 number when out on the bike (and I just ordered this sim card reader so would easily be able to transfer all my contacts)

Kinda OT but what price is the VX2 ? Sweet little phone....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭Home:Ballyhoura

I received my one today and I have to say it is much better than expected. It has a good bit more than just text and calls which you wouldn't expect like different profile settings, calculator, alarms, call records, text forwarding etc. I even took it out on the bike and coverage seemed great. The only thing I was worried about was sound quality of the calls because of one or two dodgy reviews but it is as good as if not better than my good phone on both ends. Screen is actually quite good, easy to read and navigate and rubbery buttons are spaced out nicely which helps if I am wearing gloves! The only thing I would have against it at the moment would be the predictive texting (which can easily be changed to normal text input) but may just take a while to get used to. Besides that, I wouldn't mind a bit of vibration alert and I will have to wait and see how the battery life holds up. Overall, well impressed and anyone who I have shown it to is just amazed by it (weight even more so than size) and say that everybody should have one!

One quick question! The phone comes with one of these Vodafone SIM card packs (or you can go for the 02 version which I never saw when ordering) but will these work in Ireland or are they UK only SIM cards? It doesn't seem to say it on the SIM card box and I don't want to break the seal by opening it up to find out incase I will have to sell it on. The only reason I have suspocion is because the SIM cards on that site are both advertised with price plans in £ and p (O2 coming with £1 credit) but mentions UK network....I'm confused, please help! ;) CHEERS

Your irish sim will be fine. You probably will have problems with an 3 ireland sim.

Cost me €21.29 using my Ulster Bank Visa Debit :)

    This had better be good!

I know that, I have been using it perfectly with my Meteor SIM all day it is just whether or not the Vodafone SIM supplied will work in Ireland is the question. That way I could leave my current sim in my good phone and just set it to divert to the other Vodafone number when I take the VX1 out on the bike! :)

€22.00 using my VISA Credit Card. Would have been €22.18 had I used PayPal's conversion rate at the time of purchase. I think we could technically be caught for customs as it is coming from the Channel Islands right and the limit is €22? Info got from here, thanks blorg! ;)

Sounds slick but is this treated as a free Vodaphone to Vodaphone call or a separate service and charged as such? I can't find details on their website.

Sorry i misunderstood ya, yes the sim should work fine. You have to activate them with a code like *101# iirc, but you should just go get a free irish sim as the number you will diverting to will be a uk number and will cost you!

Yeah I got mine today and it's alright.
    It's really tiny

I'm not mad on the way the whole menu setup and predictive text is not great(actually texting in general is a chore right now. although I only have it a day so this will probably change).
Ringtones I'd give a 3/10(and i'm not that fussy, but these are special)

especially the text ringtones omg, they are so longwinded if you know what I mean all I want is a soft beep when I get a text and although it's only a little niggly thing it's still well annoying.

The speaker could also be a little louder otherwise pretty good esp for the price.

    I'm a happy camper

Is anyone able to help me please? I can't find a way to change the ring tone on my VX1, the instruction leaflet isn't that clear and I can't find the Personal Settings Options.

Is their a 'profiles' option in the settings, similar setup like a nokia?

Yes there is but it only gives options for standard, conference, outdoor and mute.

They are the profile, you need to edit them, well the standard one. Should be something like; options and personalise

Why does it make spaces between letter when writing a text message?

Oh I get you now, It has predictive text on at the start of each message.

You can just press the "#" key to change it to either "abc", "Abc" or "ABC" and then you can text normally.

Because Three is a 3G network and this is a 2G phone.

If it a vodafone uk sim, their not on the packet. You send service code and it will tell you your number if i remember correctly. Its something like *101#

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

I suppose I should read some of the manuals that come with it :D

That didn't work, unknown command, but then I did get 2 SMS about roaming which I've never received before.

    Will battle through.

    ++ edit

    It's *#100#

3 Ireland sim cards are different to other sims in that they will only work in 3G phones.

They do work in the odd GSM handset, but i was airing on the side of caution, rather than ordering it and finding out later it wont work with your 3 sim
