Barclays Premier League- Everton vs. Man Utd

    Venue: Goodison Park
    Date: Saturday 20 February 2010
    Kick-off: 12:45pm
    Live on: Sky Sports 1
Everton have suffered a fresh injury blow with the loss of Tim Cahill.

His absence further depletes Moyes' options as it was revealed earlier this week that influential midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Tony Hibbert (groin), Victor Anichebe (back) and loan signing Philippe Senderos (back) are still out but progressing and long-term absentee Phil Jagielka (knee) is also back in training.

Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic will return to the United squad after a lengthy lay-off.

Vidic has yet to play in 2010 after suffering a nerve problem in a leg, but after expressing some exasperation about the situation earlier this week, Ferguson has confirmed the Serbian will be available at Goodison Park.
Rio Ferdinand and Nani will both miss the crunch clash due to suspension.

The suspended pair are joined on the sidelines by Ryan Giggs, who is recovering from a broken arm.
    Head-to-head
    • Everton have only won one of their last 29 Premier League meetings with United (a 1-0 victory at Goodison Park back in April 2005).
    • The Toffees have lost 27 out of 35 Premier League encounters against Sir Alex Ferguson's side and won only three.
    • United have only failed to score in two of their 17 Premier League visits to Goodison, and those are the only matches the Toffees have won, both 1-0.

Looking forward to this game, going to go with 3-1 United.

Cahill is injured, and I think united are pretty lucky that everton are experiencing a few injuries.

Difficult game with united playing badly for a substantial part of the game and getting a somewhat lucky goal then a second one to kill it off.

    2-0 united

    Crap...

I can see united dropping points here myself anyway. Everton are a good team

We've been in great form of late, due to the fact that we haven't been missing a lorry-load of players but without Fellaini and Cahill we're missing our anchorman and our biggest goal threat.

Rooney to win it for Utd.

Arteta has a massive game to play in the absence of Cahill and Fellaini, tight game I reckon 1-0 or 2-0 United for me

This is going to be a bloody tough game. I'm hoping we can come through it. Saha is going to have some fun against our mis-firing defence I would say. Fletcher in the middle however will improve us a lot I hope.

    Everton 1-2 United.

Valencia, Saha, then Mr Own Goal to win it.

Yea, Giggs and Nani both out of the match so no other options really.

I'd love to see Obertan get a decent run today. Just really like his pace and control, he travels into the box with ease at times and once your in there anything can happen.

Obertan had to be put in today, did well in the reserves and no other options really.

United's squad strength is really been tested this season, it's just nuts. Countless batches of injuries and suspensions.

Neville is the weak link today, no doubt, but he's still got it in him to put in a decent performance. Brown or Evans need to play very well today.

I think it'll be a scoring game from both teams, hence why Berbatov has been sent out. He hasn't played much lately, so lets hope he can perform today.

Gibson ahead of Anderson though is very interesting, really interested to see how Fergie is managing Anderson.

Well Ando played 60mins for the reserves and we have more options in midfield than at Lw, I reckon Anderson will play the Carling Cup final.

Have a good feeling about this one.

    3-1 to United

Going for 3-1 to United, Ronney with 2 goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Very cagey opening 7 I think

Anyone got a live stream link??

Think Gary nevilles passing is going to cost United a goal today. Twice he's underhit them and the other players, evra and Evans I think, had to really work to get to them.

Good defending from Brown. Pressure on from Everton.

Everton really causing UNited a few problems, could have had a penalty against Rooney there, Saha with a decent attempt too. United need to sharpen up.

    Good match so far.

Definite penalty for Everton there but of course not given

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

That was a penalty, hands on his back, otherwise Heitinga was heading that. If that was the other way around, the ref wouldn't be too slow in giving a free out to Utd.

Tell you what, thats a fantastic first touch by Berbatov. 9 times out of 10, that ball will come back away off the striker. He just killed it instantly.
