    Hi All

Was wondering if anybody would know of any place in preferably Dublin but also Ireland where you could buy some thick rope? similar to that shown in the videos below. Or do I need to order online from abroad?

If so would anybody know of any suppliers? I am currently googling :) but thought some of the folks in MMA might have some ideas.

I would like to use it for improving grip strength (rope pullups) and also for some conditioning ala the video above.

    Best Regards,

    M

Have looked on a few sailing and outdoors type sites but they only seem to have smallish rope like climbing or what would be used on yatchs and small boats. I have not had any luck finding thick rope :(

I used to work in a housing dept, similar to homebase and they sold lots of this stuff, chains etc.

I won't be training before Monday, so I can ask then if you haven't got an answer by that stage.

I got rope from this ebay seller, but he only has 25mm on sale now

I spotted some discarded ropes of various thicknesses down at a harbour, but it stank. You might be able to wash it or bleach it, if used outside it might not be too much of a bother. You can always use 2 strong towels for pullups. This guy uses mop heads, very clever.

Find out if there's a GAA club involved in Tug-o-War in your area.

They'll either have some old training gear they might let you have, or might be able to point you in the right direction.

Its a long time since I've had to source rope, but when I was competing in Tug-o-War in the Defence Forces it was very hard to get proper rope in this country.
