    Hi,

I'm wondering what other themed teams there are out there? For instance, we do a modern Russian VDV impression but what other teams are out there doing this kind of thing?

EDIT: To avoid confusion this includes military/paramilitary impression, historical, TV show, film or video game impressions.

Not that many. Most see camp as a team strip, but as airsoft in ireland matures we should see more pop up

Must admit, would love to join a themed team myself. Then go play milsim - best use of a sunday EVER.

You do not have to wait to join such a team , we need people to create theme groups are not about competion so numbers are not that important , 3 or 4 guys interested in the same area is all you need:)

but I would not worry turn up to a site in an accurate impression and you will atract attention from people with the same interests

Sorry to spam a little bit, but I'm also based in Finglas. I do not have a car or any available transport at the moment, so I'm looking for somebody to go with, to any of the airsoft sites.

For that kind of stuff you'd better off with posting in the Teams Recruitment Thread, just to save clutter in this thread. :)

Lets just keep this to finding out about teams doing themes! I'd love to see some teams doing a proper USMC/USAA loadout.

    That would be AWESOME! D:

Ever since I played Battlefield 2 on the PS2 I've always had a thing for the Type-95. They're dithered camo is also really sweet but impossible to get... If you find any, be sure to let me know, m'kay? ;)

EDIT: I think you should totally set one up. You can get Type-97s that take STANAG mags but they're a bit pricey...

    why thank you very much!
i will keep in mind to notify you, pretty sure i'v seen a few on ebay, although it is near impossible to find and EXPENSIVE!

in airsoft i believe the type-95 take stanag mags too, i think!
But yes, im very interested to go down that road, but being in a team in the moment and all :p probably mess around with my other chinese friends or somthing with it. btw remember my mate you were talking to at hell fire? hes not playing anymore lol.

PLA and your russian themed team would be a nice combo team IMO.

Nope! The 95 takes some weird 5.8mm round and super curved mags.

Yeah, you know how chummy the PLA and Russian Armed Forces have got these days! ;)

    PMed, BTW...

i believe your all right, there are a number of different versions as far as im aware of the type 95 running different calibres, all pointless for airsoft as the the cosmetic difference would be the mags and the carver mags are not available

My team were thinking of being 'German Themed/Russian theme' as most of us have either H&K replica's or Kalashnikov variants. The sniper guy has a L96... But then it breaks a little as one of the two DMR's has a M-14, the other a Steyr AUG. But the majority are either AK/G36/MP5. THere is, IITC, one or two other 'oddball weapons' in there. So we also considered a 'resistance theme' - resistance/freedom fighters never REALLY have 'standard kit', no?

Well, how many teams are there out there who wear Flecktarn and use G36s? That would be cool to see.

Fleck is actually fast becoming the standard camo for out team ANYWAY somply cos we like it :)

Now to find some photos of german military to base my loadout upon - I think it is a good excuse to buy that USP :D

It's an excellent camo. Especially for Ireland.

I think JG make G36s with integrated scopes. I used one before and they're pretty cool. No idea about USPs though. :D

In relation to Berget there will be some team forming south with multicam (due to Berget restrictions) and diverse guns that takes M4-mags, including M4s, Masada, Tavor and M249. Snipers will use L96 and possibly VSR. Not sure if it comes in as a 'themed' team, but at least it'll look good :P

Not in the slightest... This really isn't the place for it. If it's to do with Berget, please keep it in a thread about Berget.

Then perhaps asking for german themed rather than flecktarn wearing teams would have been a better question.

This thread is about teams that follow a theme. Whether that be country, history, TV show or movie. I thought it would have been a given.

You're in galway area right phractal? I have a g36c and a SIG Sauer and would like to join in with that if it does become a full theme-team.

My first pistol was a USP... obviously i was not familier with airsoft when i bought it. it did not have a hop-up, no markings on the gun(which i didnt like, i like the whole "USP 45" etc.) and the trigger broke about 2 weeks later... :(
worst day of my life! loved it so much

Fireborn: Damn right, I am a Galway man meself. I gotta get some organizing done, but aside from the sniper/support contingent, our team will be split into Russian Theme (Irony is, they are all Russian/East europe) and German themed (G3, G36, MP5 variants)

Camo, either Russian (for Russians), or German/Fleck.

Sidearm: Any. Though pref H&K or SIG. Glock is cool too.

Fireborn: Once we get organized, you are welcome aboard! Sure we can meet in GTAC sometime!

    Veee-et-Namm baby!

we have 3 of the lads from our team at least so far, possible 4 and I know a few other lads that build GI loadouts that aren't on the team. would love to see people interested in nam loadouts :)

It's an interesting situation you have there...

An idea would be to do a Russian/Eastern European "irregulars" force, like the Chechen, Abkazian and Ossetian ones that took part in the 2008 war with Georgia. They've got this badassery going on with their rough mishmash of Russian gear with loads of Gorka and sniper suits, especially KLMK. They'd be a bit like Blackwater/XE but without the "rules" (presumably the same morals).

Christian Bale taking time off from being Batman, apparently:

These guys are probably GRU but it's the same idea:

If done right it could make some interesting loadouts with loads of freedom in equipment. It would also make a big difference from the typical highspeedlowdrag/supa1337killa loadouts that are out there. (j/k)

Just some ideas in general. :)

Stargate is a rather popular theme :) there is even a site with a ring in the uk and seen stargate themed events in the past

I think if im ever gonna go down the route of non-real imitation then, its always going to be Rainbow 6. I have a velcro IFF tag of the rainbow unit patch already lol.

Do it! olive drab uniforms/flight suits, olive drab caps, black assault vests and P90s.

In that case, I have an entire Stargate loadout too with everything bar the gold plate thing stuck on yore man's forehead. except i hate Stargate. :)

If were talking about none real life things too, im sure theres loads of Modern Warfare players out there aswell. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 452 ✭✭Phractal

ZeroSignal: Thats a VERY good idea. One I was thinking of is a 'coalition forces' setup. Kind of a mishmash of German and Russian... And for those with different loadouts they can act as the 'military advisors'. Kind of a Euro-Coalition type thing. Russians, Germans, and maybe Austrian/Irish for those with Steyrs. Would it work? We are thinking Fleck as the standard camo anyway for a start.

I never really 'got' the whole High Speed/Low Drag thing. It seems to revolve around attaching heavy, bulky things to yer weapon... Surely that slows the soldier down?

Yeah i saw some good ones over there., myself and McShape are at least 2 people doing the same here. Id say theres loads of people doing it though. All i need now for mine is Sordins. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

A lot of people trying it but very few seem to pulll it off well, the loadouts seem very easy but there are not many short cuts as the look is so iconic to those who know it

you going for replica or splashing out on real deal headset, I have the replica and it works ok but tbh only makes me want to save up for the real ones

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

Yeah i have heard that but i was gonna take a risk and get em and see. I might just get real ones though, they'll even look better.:)

Just to add to this: Or, you could go the more realistic SG:Universe loadout and wear the new ABU with G36Ks and M16s.

Just a few points on that:
Why would these soldiers be working so closely together, IRL? Maybe if you had a UN or ISAF theme (ISAF wouldn't make sense for an Irish or Russian impression since they're not in NATO, but it's still an idea EDIT: Austria isn't in NATO either so scrap that idea!).

Since you can't wear Irish DPM maybe the Irish lads might wear French CE? It's reasonably similar. The Austrians wear Olive Drab uniforms but are sometimes known to use the camo of other nations they're closely working with (eg. French CE while Peacekeeping in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004 according to Kamouflage.net)

Just having Flecktarn as your standard camo isn't going to be following a theme, really...

From now on it shall be known as "Low-Speed, High-Drag", then. :p
