Parking enforcement gripe

My wife got a parking ticket outside the school wall where she collects our son. Now she's had the same routine since Sep and it never came up as an issue. the school is in the burbs, off a main road but the car park is just too small for the volume of traffic. Now the gripe is that the parking rule hasnt been enforced by the police before so one could make the unconscious assumption that there is a bit of "give and take" given that cars would be only there over a 20 min period at 1pm.
So what is the policy, surely in the interest of not annoying people on a random basis, the sensible thing imo would have been for the local station to ring the school principal and say that for whatever reason, the rule is going to be enforced from the following week. No biggie, we are all on email so easy enough to communicate.
It just seems like its easy to chip away at the goodwill of people which may or may not matter, I dont know?

I'm not a garda but i wouldn't be surprised if a local busybody made a complaint in the local station about the illegal parking. The guards now have to be seen to do something and will throw a few tickets around.

It probably won't last but thats just tough for you.

If someone goes over the speed limit regularly, can they get their penalty points overturned on the basis that it wasn't enforced the other times? It's completely unfeasible to enforce all laws at all times, especially motoring offences. If you're caught, you're caught. You haven't got a leg to stand on. What you should be doing is taking it up with the school and pressuring them into providing adequate parking

Take it up with the school or get the wife to park responsibly and walk to collect the child.

    Not an ES issue.
