    Hi All,

I'm tired of freezing my ass off to have a smoke on a Saturday Night.

I just thought it would be nice if we could get a list of pubs/ restaurants with decent smoking areas where you can seat down and not get frost bite :)

    City Centre
Krystal Niteclub - I think this is a great smoking area - you would barely know you are outside.

    Anyone else....

    Pintxos - Temple Bar

Actually this Spanish tapas restaurant has a great smoking area - I'm not as mad on the food but it's nice to have some wine and a cigarette.

You'd think you were inside!

+1 on Harry Byrnes. I shall be in there tomorrow afternoon enjoying a cigar and a pint while watching the rugby.
The Sycamore Club Rooftop bar is wonderful but can get very loud and crowded depending on the night and the DJ and if you can get past the doormen.
The Morgan Hotel is popular with cigar smokers and I believe there is a cigar meeting there next Wednesday (17th Feb).
Nice area in No.3 Fade Street, a covered courtyard with plenty of seating.

The Eden Pub, Rathfarnham, near Marlay Park. As a smoker and a drinker I like to be on a high stool and have the pints come to me. Good Guinness too!

Second that for Mantra Maynooth. Their smoking area has a 30 foot waterfall, booth seating, pour your own pint, 2 bars including a cocktail bar, a hot food counter, and is permanently kept at a comfortable 25 degree's all year round and its cleverly covered in such a way that it can't rain on you, despite it also having 4 walls. It's better than the inside.

Mantra in Maynooth has two massive smoking areas :D they have bars in them and heaters :D

packed with 10-15 generic looking girls with windswept hair and the entire under 25 male population of maynooth, almost impossible to move in them and the heaters are either killing you with heat or your not under one

Copper Face Jacks has a good smoking area but I can't stand the club itself! Harcourt Street Dublin

    McSorleys in Killarney.

It's this big massive room with heaters, a bar, it's own toilets, a massive projector screen and even water features. It also has two tiny 2'x4' or so slits off in the corners. This apparently qualifies it as outdoors.

+1 They did a savage job there to be fair - only problem is the hiking up of drink prices at the bar out there

Harveys here in waterford must be the best in the country. Has a bar and separate cocktail bar. A few big flat screen plasma televisions. The roof has stars and crap lights in it and there is a little waterfall. I know a few people who hate smoking but rather the smoking area down there than the normal part.

Is that the music shop pub? I've never been in there (to my shame) but it looks like a great little place. And now that you tell me I can haz cigar too it's going to be a port of call very soon.

Kellys, Main st. Ashbourne has a good area - covered and heated and full of amazing 'totty' as well which brings me to a point that the press has picked up on - were I 20 years younger and single I would have seriously considered taking up the habit given the ' socialising ' opportunities it offers.
So much for the ' Nanny State ' cutting the numbers who smoke.

Whelans smoking area is great, you'd barley know you where outside due to the walls and tons of heaters:D
Whelans smoking area was great, well the new one still is great but in fairness twill never be like the old days where you'd spend the whole evening out there, not because it was the best smoking area ever more like because you literally couldn't force your way back in;).

GM071, stop telling punters about JmcNeills:p, Old Goat seems like a decent cigar smoking skin but I don't want the feckin' place taken over by JP Blue smokers who complain about the smell off my hard earned Winterman's half coronas of an evening.

It's a great spot for cigar & pipe smoking, Go for the Alvaro's yes they're spanish but very good!
Also it must mentioned that (in very un-scientific terms - being my taste) It is one of the best pints of Guinness in the country!

Anyone who likes the black stuff, pull up a seat near the fire, and enjoy!

    Update:
I was in No.3 on Saturday night. Oh Man what a nightmare. It's impossible to enjoy a smoke the place is so crowded. Avoid at the weekends otherwise still a nice spot.

Also just found out that the smoking area in Harry Byrnes was designed by a French architect. It won him a national award. Noice! I must get a few photos to post up.

On the roof but it's covered, bar, heaters, seats, music, the whole shebang.

    I like it :)

Purty Kitchen in temple bar has a great smoking area on the rooftop from what I remember. Bar, seats, heated. From what I remember it's entirely covered on 4 sides and with a roof with a small gap in the middle, covered by some form of tarpaulin so there's no chance of getting wet. The night I was there though a VIP wristband was required so I'm not sure when it's accesible to the general crowd.

Details may be a bit eery, I was bolloxed at the time.

Edit: Didn't realize it was covered 2 post above me.

Bernard Shaw in Dublin, like being in a room, pool table in centre, seating all around, graffiti art on walls. Comfortable, good atmosphere.
