I work in an office all day but excercise quite a bit in the evenings I ride horses and could be up there a few hours between riding, carrying tack etc. At the weekends I would also do quite a bit.

Some days I don't get time to eat as well as I should do and I worry that I do not always get enough protein in my diet I could do with more energy but cant take ginseng it makes me feel ill!

I bought some dessicated liver tablets - are these good for increasing protein? Or is there anything else that would be good?

I know its probably not the same type of fitness as gym fitness but I figured you guys might be able to advise!

    Thanks

drink milk or eat some cooked meat or nuts while you ride.

    Thanks a mil.
I cant drink too much milk as I have IBS and it tends to upset it but the nuts would be good I can do that I have hazelnuts and almonds ina drawer beside me so I can start eating more of those.
I don't want to bulk up or anything by taking proteins, just want to make sure I am not running myself down either and making myself tired

    Hi Dark Pheonix

Just make sure that you include the calories provided by the nuts etc in your daily calorie allocoation. Nuts are calorie dense, and if you're not careful it is quite easy to consume a highish amount of calories which could lead to weight gain.

A protein powder shake (can be mixed with water), Cottage Cheese, Tins of Tuna are all easily transportable and consumable and are also good sources of protein if they do not affect your IBS.

    Best Regards,

    M

That's a good idea, the more you bulk up, the more exercise the horse gets.;)

Pulses like peas and beans are also a good source of protein.

What's your current diet? How about we start from there and see where it can be improved.
