Best to ring them up and find out.

Looks a misprice to me. Above poster is being funny btw. If you want it order it, dont phone them.

Looks like misprice. Good deal if you got it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭maidhcII

Going on previous experience here I ordered it and had it delivered before posting. It isn't so cheap people will order 10, but good value if someone is looking for a reasonable spec laptop.

Dont ring them, they'll only change it!

Those bastards in Dell wouldn't honour a misprice before Christmas relating to a laptop someone posted here.

This one isn't half as obvious - so do it before someone realises. My old fella is looking for exactly this spec of laptop so I'll be interested to see how anyone gets on.

    Link says €529 now

What did it say originally? I actually thought €529 was a good price for a 17".

To the right of the €529 price, you can upgrade to the premium pack. That's where the bargain is.

    Thanks OP...ordered!:D

Edit: If you go through their Employee Purchase Program, http://www.dell.ie/epp, you get another €13.16 off, making the delivered price €551.82

link was always for €529 but the OP pointed out that if you get the Premium Package then it's only €565.

Premium Package includes more ram, bigger hard drive and graphics card.

Where as the other two "upgrades" shown there are more expensive than the premium package and aren't as good.

Oh too late for me as I just ordered, but it's still a bargain!

    Thanks OP!

Is the Mobility RADEON HD 4570 Graphics Card a much better card than the one here?

Would it be worth paying a bit more for the 4570?

From reading briefly through Wikipedia, these procesors (i3) are the equivalent to Core 2 processors, am I right?

Yes. They're the latest in Intel's Core line of processors.

    Thanks Maidhc,
Thats just just what I was after, 564 was good for core i+17in+4G+500G.
    Thanks

El mucho thanks to the OP, have been trying to decide on a new laptop to replace my craptop, this fits the bill perfectly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

Ordered one of these too, thanks OP. What are the odds that they honour this price though?!

Going to ring Dell in the morning to see if they will honour this.

They're trading under a .ie site meaning under Irish Consumer Law. The Consumer Information Act 1978 puts a considerable fine on mispricing things so threaten them with that (although they've no actual obligation to honour the price quoted).

Think the current fine is €3,000 per offence/item.

For the second time on the same thread - doing this will bring their attention to it and make them change it most likely. Bit selfish considering it won't do you any good whatsoever. They certainly cannot charge you more without informing you if that's what youre worrying about, that's highly illegal.

I got mine (as in i'm typing on it), cost about 600 in total though because I added bluetooth.

THe 4570 would be a good bit better than the 4330, I wouldn't be buying the 4330 for gaming, where as the 4570 would be a decent middle of the road card, nothing amazing, but it'll do the job.

Rule 1 of mispriced items, don't ask if it's a misprice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,538 ✭✭✭sunny2004

I cant get it into my basket.
It goes through the whole process of parts and then tells me nothing in basket....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,014 ✭✭✭Soarer

Dare I ask if you clicked "add to basket" after you went through the adding stuff process?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,576 ✭✭✭✭ednwireland

this actually happens a lot, i always go through all the listings and compare price up the same spec (if possible)
sometimes its cheaper to buy a low price laptop specced up and sometimes its cheaper to buy the higher spec to start with, just depends how the offers stack up.

OK man, I know why the obvious has to be asked, I am here long enough.
But you really did make me laugh out loud so cheers for that....

it was an intermittent fault on dells site as it did it to me on a few different systems and 2 different INTERNET connections. its gone now ;)

Don't really need this, but I am tempted. Nice find anyway.
The same premium upgrade on the i5 version is way more expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 842 ✭✭✭shoveltooth

The premium package has increased up by €4. Dell finally caught us out ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,538 ✭✭✭sunny2004

How many have actually got it ?

Managed to getmine purchases last night but only order confirmation, not the second step where they confirm that the CC has paid up, seems like they are not requesting the money.. and yes my CC has nothing on it, so its not an issue my end...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,538 ✭✭✭sunny2004

    Not a good sign..

I remember a thread for dell offers is it still going as this offer seems to be dead...

I'm sure they won't charge your CC until the laptop has been dispatched, and that probably won't happen till early next week?

I appreciate that but their process is an inital clearence of availability of funds, in other words they make sure all is well with the CC before going to production and supply. so there is something up, hence my 2 questions

1 Who has actually got the lappy at this price ?

2 what ever happened to the Dell deal threads for lappy and desktops here on boards ?

OP already received his before he posted this bargain alert. Also the price is still at €569 on their website so I'm confident they haven't flagged this as a mistake yet.

I remember the Dell deals thread too but haven't seen it in a while sorry.

Lads would this be any use at doing a bit of amateur video editing with HD video clips?

Is that a decent graphics card?

    How does the processor rate?

To the people that have got it, how are you finding it?

Ordered this the day OP posted this thread. Got my invoice too, dell website says it's was shipped last Wednesday but I've got no tracking number yet. Anyone else get no tracking number?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,710 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

yes i didn't get no tracking number

    but then i didn't order one ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 96 ✭✭Celt1

What a really intelligent contribution from Skerries!

Doxy...you don't get a tracking number. The laptop comes from China and takes a little over a week for delivery. If you check with the couriers, they will tell you when it arrives in Ireland. Hope this helps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 423 ✭✭madrabui

doxy, I rang the courier this morning for the status of my laptop. They said that there is no sign of the number on their system yet. As soon as it comes from China or Poland, the number will appear. I have the same expected delivery date as you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Señor Ding-Dong

Ordered mine last Sunday, got confirmation it was shipped today and should get it by 1st March it said.

What should be the actual proper price for this premium package? The next one down is the productivity package which is €653, and the premium has an extra 180GB so is it a bit over the €700 mark?

Also, what are the opinions of the OP or anyone else who has actually got this delivered of the laptop itself?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭maidhcII

I have no complaints about the laptop. I bougt it to replace an Acer 6930G C2D which died and for which I got a refund. As regards speed it is quite quick, but to be honest my 6 year old Latitude x300 handles what I do with ease so I am no judge.

It has a lovely screen, battery seems to be around 3 hours, it is quiet most of the time and seems to be very well built. Overall I am very happy with it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,665 ✭✭✭gary the great

Im trying to figure out how good a deal this is, anyone here that works in computer sales have an opinion on it?

I was in PC world today and they all seem to be just a little bit more expensive/less spec'd but nothing major.

I just dont know whether to wait a few more months till i get soemthing new or get this now!?
