I always think the riff from Love Spreads by The Stone Roses is a bit of a rip off of Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) by Jimi Hendrix.

Also, maybe slightly more obscurely, College by Animal Collective reminds me a lot of Our Prayer by The Beach Boys.

yeah but that's the point, its an explicit musical quote from another song - Cat Stevens is listed in the songwriting credits.

in a similar vein you could point to Neil Young's "Borrowed Tune" and the Stones' "Lady Jane", but as Neil has actually called the song "Borrowed Tune" and mentions in the lyrics that he's borrowed it from the Stones, it's slightly redundant criticism
