Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced sudden weight gain after surgery? I had ankle surgery and a bone graft from the hip done about a week and a half ago and had my weigh in yesterday at weight watchers and had gone up 3.5 pounds, which is really weird cause I didnt eat much and when i did i kept to my points. Is it water retention from swelling? is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

K relax, sorry now but 1.5 weeks after surgery is nothing, ankle surgery (speaking sadly from experience) is not pleasant and your body is possibly gone into shut down to protect it!!! Forget about this week and start again. It prob is water retention and the anesthetic playing havoc with your body!!!

Relax you will be sound next week!!

Yes, relax. Any injury will tend to retain fluid until it is better, and 3lb is nothing. I was expecting to hear you had put on a couple of stone when I saw the heading.

After surgery, eat at maintenance, rather than trying to lose weight. You want to give your body the energy it needs to get you better. If you are eating less than you need, you are not going to heal as fast as you should.

That is what I thought too!!! That is one of the down sides of WW, its nearly obsessive!!!

Firstly think about getting better, then about loosing weight :)
