Bench & Weights...

I'm planning on buying a bench and some weights for home tonight.

Naturally the first place that springs to mind is argos - cheap and conveinent!

Basically all I'm looking for is something that will let me do all the standard exerecises. Anyone have any suggestions on a good bench from argos, or anywhere else for that matter?

I'm looking at spending €100 - €150

I'm also looking at buying some weights - they'll come in handy when I have the bench, otherwise I'll just sit on the thing watching tv! Again, anyone have any suggestions on good weights - the max I could even think about benching at the moment is 40 - 45kg (and that's with a lot of progression!!). Budget would be €50 - €75 I suppose.

Bought a set of weights from Argos in November, got 45kg for about €70 to do the starting strength programme. Since then I've added 20kg about a month after I got them and another 40kg shortly after that. Spent about €180 in total on weights. I'm going to run out of weight next week. Planning on joining a gym soon instead of splashing out on even more weight plates. If you stick with a good programme you will fly through 45kg.

I'm facing the same dilemma at the moment. I've been looking at the Argos ones and the max weight of most of them is putting me off quite a bit, i dont want the thing collapsing under me!

Looks well padded and at 400kg max weight, it should be feckin sturdy. Good shipping price to here aswell.
