A quick survey. Just want to know what people like to hear rather than letting the DJ decide all the time.

Like what's the best song to walk into a bar to? Or the song that will get you dancing even if you don't dance?

canned heat: Going up the country.
    Modest mouse: Twin Cities
The Cure: Fire in Cairo/Close to me
    Beirut: Postcards from Italy
Talking Heads: Burning down the House/This must be the place (naive melody)
Black Kids: Im making eyes at you

I could go on , but all the above songs are the ones id usually play if i wanted to get people to dance. Does depend on the people though, not to good to put on if the people want some techno.

Slippery People by Talking Heads. Never actually heard it played anywhere though.

Anything by Talking Heads is a great shout! I might give Slippery People and The Great Curve a spin so. And there will definitely be some The Cure too.

Best song I've heard on a night out was National Anthem by Radiohead. Wouldn't mind hearing that again!

Radiohead 'Karma Police' usually goes down well with everyone in the pub. I really love The Cranberries 'Zombie' in the pub too, a great song to create an atmosphere.

    LA Woman by The Doors.

    Or Superstition by Stevie Wonder.

A bit of the Foo Fighters, maybe Everlong or the likes.
Qotsa always does it for me too.
Might also go for old Soundgarden mmmmmm......
NIN used to fill the floors too in my clubbing days,March of the Pigs ,people sitting down all night could not resist the dancefloor for what was no more than a body shake!"Now doesn`t it make you feel better?"
Pixies without a doubt, nearly any song of theirs does it!
Missing the earl 90`s badly here :o

I wanna be your dog by the stooges and Peaches are two of my favourite songs to hear on a night out.
I heard human fly by the cramps a while ago. Forget where but it made my night.
Ca Plane pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand is another one.

The stuff I like to hear on a night out would be different to what I'd listen to at home. My taste in music gets a lot less sophisticated the more I drink.
I've been known to rock out to Cyndi Laupers, Girls just wanna have fun after a havin' a few too many. (I'm a bloke) ((a straight bloke))

A DJ in Doyle's played Idioteque by Radiohead one time I was there, me and my mate went mental to it, but in retrospect, I don't know if that's a very good night-out-song :pac:

Harry Belafonte - Jump in the Line.

Great song on a night out, the only time I've ever heard it on a night out is when Mr. Whippy Soundsystem played it at the NCAD Ball, everyone loved it :D

    George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadelic - anything
    Ok, any funk really
    Bowie - Suffragette City
    Bowie - Queen Bitch
    Pixies - Gouge Away
    Supergrass - Richard III
Smiths - How Soon Is Now?
    Animal Collective - My Girls

    Vampire Weekend - M79
    Pavement - Stereo
    Radiohead - anything really
The Clash - Rudie Can't Fail (& many more)

Most of those I've never heard while out, but if all of the above were played, in a row, I wouldn't leave the floor...and I'd probably be very sweaty
