I'm trying to sort out my diet currently and from looking around here I've seen greek yoghurt mentioned a couple of time in diets and have not come across this before.

Is this a good food stuff to include in calorie controlled diet? How does it break down nutritionally? Is it tasty, do you include berries ect in it? Why can you find it, any favourite types?

    Thx.

Greek yoghurt has higher calories than natural yoghurt but does have some good benefits, I think and correct me if I'm wrong but its good for a low GI diet?

Yes, higher calorie than plain yogurt, but usually sold plain, so no sugar or weird additives, so it's often similar cals to flavoured yogurts. Lovely mixed with nuts or berries.

I personally love the one in Lidl, which you get a 1kg tub of it for 2.49. It's not called Greek, the tub says something like "creamy yogurt, Greek style". Tesco also do some nice Greek yogurt.

Because it's so think and creamy, you can use it as a substitute for cream or whipped cream in a lot of recipes.
