Hi, this is more of a general fitness forum, there is a dedicated Running / Athletics / Triathalon forum here -> http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=972
There are already numerous Dublin 2010 Marathon threads there also.

They would be better suited to answering your question.

Now!!! Or maybe it is a bit ambitious this year, I remember reading that you should be running for a year before you begin marathon training... Why don't you start now and aim for a 10k in a couple of months, and maybe a half marathon sometime later in the year?

Depending on your goals, you have plenty of time. If you want to run the whole thing without stopping, you'll be fine, if you want a specific time, you'll be under pressure.

A lot of people run and then walk for a bit etc but in my opinion, thats not really 'doing' a marathon (only my opinion)

+1 on the adivce to hit the Athletics / tri etc forum.
