The Wicklow photo thread - old and new [No Chat]

The Wicklow photo and image thread is here as a sticky thread. This means that it will always be around the top of the first page.

There have been many threads with fantastic photos and when they fall of the first page they are forgotten about and probably wont be seen again. So if they are added to this thread they will always be one of the first threads that will be seen.

This will also keep all photos to one thread.

I think the pics are a great idea. I see over on the Donegal forum they have thread in which people post pics and others guess the locations. A great way for newcomers to get to know the county.

Thanks for that. I am the better for looking at your photographs on Flick'r. The famine statues in the snow are most arresting.

Super shots Dan, that 5D mark 2 is a super machine.
By the way it was the Moderators who named this topic, great idea. I linked to my Flickr so as not to overload this thread with too many photos.
There could be another photowalk on Monday night next around Spencer Dock area of Dublin.

Great, I should be on for that. Did you want me to start a new thread on the photo forums about it so we can gauge interest?

    Thank you.
Its Lough Tay on the way to Sally Gap. Lough Dann is further to the south over Roundwood.

I saw it too in February last year - thought I was seeing things. I had binoculars with me and could see the snow on the mountain peaks. Has to be a perfectly clear day though.

You have to be proud as an Irishman to see that kind of scenery in our country, it really is beautiful.

I have always thought the Irish countryside is the perfect setting for fantasy films, eg. Lord of the Rings

Watch Excalibur, long before the CGI-orgasm of LOTR there was a movie that actually used amazing locations in Wicklow.

Everytime i see the place it brings back memories of the 'raves' that used to be up there. They were class, unfortunately environmentally and legally unsound. :D
