First off I'm NOT looking for any medical advice. I'm giving the details of my problem just as background.

I currently have a problem with my neck and back. An old whiplash injury came back in Nov and after a few visits to my sports physio it has stablised. My physio said the muscles in my back are quite weak so I have to work on building the muscle up around my spine. My facets lock and it takes a session of deep tissue massage to unlock them and then it takes alot of core stability exercises/pilates about 4 times a week to prevent them from locking again. However, inevitably one or two lock again quite quickly after a massage session. I also have rounded shoulders and elongated traps and I have exercises for this too but this adds to the overall problem.

I used to run 3 or 4 times a week but this is on hold until Spring as running definitely exacerabates the problem. The cold weather is also tough on me and I have to wear lots of layers and keep warm if I go out on a cold day so the winter hasn't been pleasant for me!

Anyhows, it's been going on for 3 months now and I think it's time to get a second opinion. Can any of you recommend a good clinic or phsyio who may be able to give a second opinion? I think my physio is doing all that can be done via physio and deep tissue massage but I'd like to hear it from someone else.

Would you try acupuncture? I've had problems with my back, neck, knee and hip joints since a car crash 13 years ago and found that both physio and acupuncture helped a lot. PM me if you'd like the name of the guy I go to.

Try Sports surgery clinic in Santry, I've been to a couple of their physio's and they're top notch.

I was very impressed with the set up they have. Thankfully I haven't needed to use them in a while, fingers crossed it stays that way!

Hope you get the problem sorted.

Just out of curiosity has your physio done any manual work directly targeting the joints?

Try Shaun Gilmore (Aussie chap) of Sports and Mobility Therapy. He has clinics in Rathmines & Malahide. He healed my frozen shoulder after many unsatisfactory results from docs, physios etc. He has experience with Irish Rugby team, All Blacks, Riverdance, GAA, Tae-kwon Do. His website is: www.shaungilmore.com
