Hi toffee. I gather you are very new? Like less than 40 minutes registered? Or did you get messed up in the whole hack thing?

Good point about the experience thing; you are fortunate to be in a job you love, with the recession and all that.

So wanderingsoul, what belt are you on?

LOL @ how this is becoming a second Off-Topic thread. Should we ask for it to be stickied?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

Yeah, I suppose so. Blue tag as well but I had to stop due to injury (I get a lot of injuries: I've broken : left wrist, right elbow, right shin, right ankle, both little fingers twice each, both little toes + sprains, pulled muscles etc.) and I can't go back till the summer.

Aren't you unlucky!!! Did all those breaks include TKD or just random accidents? Right shin! Owzies!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

Not all TKD, thankfully, if they were there'd be no way I'd be allowed do it! Yeah, the shin was a killer, I had a cast and it was during the summer (a couple of years ago when it was still sunny during the summer) so it was really annoying!

Its hard to stay on topic but if you think about it, its about getting to know people and what other way can you do that then chatting? :)

As for the roll call bit... Present!

I agree, for all that it isn't strictly just introductions, we are asking about and discussing people's introductions.

I'm 46 and taking Junior Cert. Music this year with some kids I teach.

I've also corrected Junior Cert. in the past, though not Music (I wish).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

Cool! What subjects did you correct, spurious?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 27,343 CMod ✭✭✭✭spurious

History and Environmental and Social Studies at both levels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

Cool. Just wondering why did you decide to go back to do the JC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,840 ✭✭✭Luno

Is it just music your doing spurious? I was going to do it last year but decided not to just because I'd have to do it this years anyways!

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 27,343 CMod ✭✭✭✭spurious

Cool. Just wondering why did you decide to go back to do the JC?

Some of the kids I teach would not be terribly fond of education and exams.
It's partly for the craic and partly to let them see that no matter what age they are, they can still go back and do their Junior or Leaving or whatever.

    M&S* wrote: »

Yes I'm just doing Music and would hope to do LC Music with the current 5th yrs in 2011.

I actually sat 'Music and Music Appreciation' in the Inter. Cert. in 1978 and got an A in it, but I had no instrument. I have recently taken to making strangled noises from a concertina so I thought I'd give it a lash with the 3rd years.

I'm quite sure they think I'm mental, but in years to come if even one of them remembers the mad oul' one who did JC when she was real old and decides to go back to education themselves it will be worth it.
