I have seen on lots of threads recommending protein shakes for weight loss but id like more info.
What would be the best time of the day ( does it matter?) to take the shakes? At the minute im trying to eat healthier and suceeding with everything except having breakfast first thing. I wake at 7 but usually dont eat till 10. Would it good to have one of these shakes first thing then eat my normal meal at 10 ( porridge with water honey and banana).
In the evenings im generally starving so i cant see a shake replacing a meal, is there ways of bulking it up healthily?
And finally i know you can put pretty much anything into them, can someone post a site with some good healthy shake receipies
    Many thanks

well are you trying to lose weight or bulk up? what is your current diet like, in full? what are your current stats and what stats do you wanT I.E. goals . protein shakes wont help you lose weight unless you are creating a calorie deficit and there is no reason why you cant achieve this with whole foods. of course shakes are handy PWO ...

Hey TedE, might be an idea to look at interval training and also doing some physical sport to get the heart rate up. I found that even when i cycled i wasn't fit because there wasn't a huge amount of bursts where i needed to up the intensity. I think there's too much sugar in your diet but I'm not an expert, others will be able to advise you better on that. What do you drink at the weekends? Some protein shakes have a lot of different types of sugars in them so be careful with that.

I meant compared to guinness - is that not correct?

It is actually, didn't expect that. About 18g of carbohydrate in Guiness, about 11.5g in Bulmers.

EDIT: Actually I'm getting figures of up to 24g in Bulmers. Can't find a solid source.
