I am curious to see because any non nationals eastern Europeans and other Europeans they pay for everything be it whether even just friends with the said girl.While in Ireland and America and England ofc not all they don't want to pay for a date and make a girl feel special.

What is the deal with the poll being all Irish over here and Non Nationals over here.

I'm a poor student currently so I'd have to say that currently, I don't think the guy should be paying.
Any time I go out with a girl and she doesn't make a move to put her hand in her pocket, I feel like I'm being taken advantage of.
After all I am a hunk a burning burning love..

When I was working full time it wasn't so much of a problem, but that was generally because I had the money to spare.
Looking back I think that women should definitely be paying their way, at least somewhat.

I don't expect them too. I'll always offer to go halves, but sometimes the guy likes to pay, if that's the case I'll let him., But, say we go to dinner and then a film usually he'll pay one, I'll pay the other. I wouldn't expect any man to have to pay for every single dinner/film/drink etc...

well from the single women i know,from 19 to around 32, they nearly all insist that the man pays. if he wont then they wont go out with him. however they also insist that even if he pays they dont "owe" him anything and will go off with someone else in a nightclub if they choose.
that said all of the women i know with this attitude have found dates are hard to come by since the recession started.my male friends have become fed up with being used for free drink/entry to nightclub etc and then the date disappears.

not often i say it but thank god am married and dont have to worry about who pays.

There is no should, either way.

But a sensible/easy way to do it is that the person who suggested the date should pay. If I offer to take someone out then it's only fair that I should pay. But if a girl has her eye (still waiting for this to happen) on me and wants to spend some time with me, paying for dinner/whatever is a sure fire way to get me to agree.

There was a conversation between a group of people i know, and the Non national girls who where there said yes Irish men should pay and don't seem to like to in majority of time.And the Irish girls present said no they don't mind paying.
So i wanted to see how people here thought.

Paying for someone's meal is not chivalrous. Keeping the door open for someone (of either gender) is polite, standing up for the elderly, pregnant, sick/injured and giving up your seat is polite and correct.

50/50 - unless we share finances and then it doesn't matter who pays for what anyway. Unless the other person (male/female) is currently on hard times and can't pay for the fancy dinner...in which case it doesn't matter if it's my friend or my date I'll help them out of course.

Paying for someone is tied to the old notion that you "own" someone. Romantic? Hardly, buy her a dozen roses (single if the first date - following protocol and all ) if you want romance.

Plus, what is chivalry? A code of honour the old age knights lived by? Last time I checked, knights were pretty big a**holes, what with the killing, pillaging and raping of common folk.

You see I find this a load of nonsense. My girlfriend is German/Polish and she fights with me to pay any time we are buying something or in a restaurant. Most of her friends are foreign from countries all over the world and any time we are socialising with them I don't see them sitting back waiting for their guys to pay. It all depends on personality not nationality and thank fcuk I've never had to associate with any gold-diggers or men who are too backward to share the burden.
