Anyone find it literally impossible to get a nuke?

Right so I'm a pretty decent player not unbelievable but pretty good :pac:

Anywho I decided tonight I'd get my act together and actually bother to get a nuke. My killstreaks are harriers, chopper gunner and nuke, and tbh I completely suck at it, I couldn't even get a harrier strike never mind the other two! I tried domination and team deathmatch but no joy!

    My class is:
    ACR with the holographic
    Striker w/foregrip
    Semtex
    Scavenger Pro
    Stopping Power Pro
    Ninja Pro

Seems fair enough me! I'm kinda doing the technique of holding ground and moving about every so often. Has anyone any advice killstreak wise, game type to lend me a hand?

    Cheers.

ya i find it impossible bcoz i always die. i always have more kills dan deaths but i can never get a really gud killstrek

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,916 ✭✭✭Flecktarn

Well on a normal days play I'd get an 11 kill streak, say every 4 matches which I don't think is that bad! My death ratio would never be more than my kills.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 128 ✭✭darraghwalsh100

i wud usually get around a 7 or 8 kill strek most matches

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 370 ✭✭craze7

It all depends on the lobby/host, i have often been in a lobby and i will come out with around 35/4 or so for about 5 games then i'd get kicked and go into a different lobby and find it impossible to get a 5 kill streak!

if it happens it happens anybody can get a predator to a harrior it takes a skilled player to get the extra two kills and go on.just don't try hard and rush the last couple of kills

Today was actually the first time ever I got a Harrier and Pave Low that wasn't in a care package :P

Doubt I'll ever get it again though :(

I have been nuked 3 or 4 times so it's not impossible at all, unless they're cheating somehow :pac:

anyone else noticing lately that their harriers and chopper gunner are getting shot down much more than a few weeks ago?

i picked up my 4 th one yesterday .(wasteland is good for mei've gotten 2 there)

    famas harrier
    dont matter chopper gunner
    dont matter nuke
    dont matter
    scav pro
    cold blooded pro
    ninja pro

i only use cold blooded when going for a nuke for obvious reasons.

Usually the first person i kill is a sniper so i pick up his weapon and hold onto the famas and camp like a b***h till i get that nuke,i usually wait till i get 10 kills before leaving off the harrier which usually gets me 5/6 kills ad then chopper gunner brings me up to 25.
(acr is accurate but very little power)

yup today i chopper gunner only lasted 10 seconds (3 kills)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,602 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

I've gotten 2 myself and had one totally robbed from me when a challenge came up for a hit marker when I was on 24 and distracted me.

Got my first one on Wasteland moving between the 2 houses in FFA. My Harrier got 5 or 6 and my AC130 got 3 or 4. Spent the rest of the time shaking and sniping by the tree beside the biggest house. I got it and was shouting at my TV!

Second was on Afghan in Domination. Stayed on the hill by C picking people off with my sniper. Harrier got shot down but I got to 20 with my Chopper Gunner and just got the remaining 5 and a couple more until I died.

Havent tried yet to get a nuke but it shouldnt be too difficult (not saying is easy).

I often go over 28-30 kills without dying. Like Shammy said the trick I think is to select the right killstreaks, depending on the map I'd say the best are:

    Harrier
    Chopper Gunner/AC130
    Nuke.

Once you get your harrier, let it do its thing, if you are lucky it will give you the chopper/ac130 without you needing to risk another kill... Once is over, dont rush and let it finish, use the chopper then. In maps such as wasteland an ac130 or a chopper gunner it will give you many many kills...

It will also depend on what kinda game you place, is more difficult in TDM as it depends on how good the other players are, in both teams, bear in mind you have to get 30% of the total number of kills (at least) in your team to get one!

Its very easy to get once you know the type of people you are playing against. If i want to use a nuke i will just camp for the first 30 seconds to see if they are going to rush or camp themselfs, once you know that you can adjust yoru play style. And using the abbove killstreaks of Harrier > Chopper/ac130 > nuke its pretty easy to get.

    Very true!

Yeah I've been using the killstreaks you guys have been using, I got the chopper gunner in highrise last night and was shot down on 17 :(

I might try cold blooded also, hopefully will help a good bit and also change from the ACR to maybe the M16.

There is so much airspam now that a you have to down choppers etc as fast as possible, I normally quit out if other people are not taking down choppers as you just end up being farmed.
Once an AC130 puts in an appearance on an open map a lot of people quit the lobby, same if a nuke is used.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭Jet Black

Think I've gotten 11 or 12 nukes. Mostly got them in wasteland. Sniper with thermal + Heartbeat, Coldblooded and ninja. Harrier > Chopper Gunner > Nuke.

Its just really about getting up to the 7 mark after that I find it easy. Although have been shot down a lot.

The nuke is no fun anyway.

Haven't gotten it yet, at the moment I'm just doing all the challenges for the guns, perks and killstreaks and gonna get it back in awhile once I'm finished with those.

I see some combination of silencers, cold blooded and ninja as being the key and as other posters said, the maps and players you're against. I've gotten a chopper gunner a few times and I've only gotten 5-6 kills before I've been shot down or otherwise people just camped in buildings until it was over.

    TAR or M16 w/ Silencer and/or FMJ
    PP2000 w/ Silencer and/or FMJ

    Bling/Scavanger
    Stopping Power/Cold blooded
    Ninja

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 227 ✭✭hypersquirrel

I'm finding it impossible at the moment due to that care package glitch. I get my 11 kills no problem but I can't get my chopper up because the air space is always too crowded. It's making the entire game unplayable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

    Regarding the chopper gunner:

    - If I'm playing in a nice big outdoors map like Afghan or Estate I can get lots of kills but i'm usually shot down after 30 seconds.

    - If I'm playing in smaller, indoor maps like Skidrow or Karachi I can never get more than a couple of kills because they're inside, even if it does mean not getting shot down half as much.

If I can find the right balance between the two I'll get one eventually (my best is 20 so far), but right now that seems extremely hard.

I think its alot harder to get a nuke now than say a month ago. It reallly depends on the map, your connection, the game type and your opposition. To get a nuke these days you;ve got to be pretty lucky, eg actually kill 2-3 people with the harrier bombs then let it rake in the kills (without having it shot down) then let the chopper gunner go to work but again this can be difficult if it gets shot down or there are buildings to hide in. Theres is a class that kinda voids the skill level of the other team although its cheap and some what pathetic

    Harrier
    Chopper Gunner
    Nuke

    Scar + Grenade launcher
    One man Army
    Claymores
    Danger close
    Third perk doesnt matter
    x2

You have two chuck norris claymores due to Danger close and an infinite number of enhanced splash damage grenades. Just pick a position on the map to hold with your claymores around you whilst you pick people of, or just launch them blindly into danger areas. You should get 7 kills easy enough like this. With danger close pro the chopper gun is has an increased splash damage making kills easier

Just pray there isnt someone like me on the opposite team. If i see a harrier go up without a crate being dropped or a predator missile being launched then chances are hes going for the nuke. Ill also check the scoreboard to look for the 7-0 or 6-0 score. Ill then get killed and shoot the airsupport down ruining his chance.

24 killstreak on Wastleland in Domination argh! You have to be very stealthy!

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

It's very easy to get but depends on..

    map
    host
opposing team (bothering to take down air support)

    and obviously your ability.

    I have had 9 nukes before 1st prestige but I've only a couple since(now high 2nd prestige).
Didn't really bother with nukes anymore unti recently where I've had far too many 22-24 killstreaks. Which is rather annoying.

One Man Army is definately the way to go with the Nuke. I actually use three different classes to get.

1: Use this to get the 7 harrier kills

    One man Army
    Stopping Power
    Ninja

C4 (I play Dom so plant the C4 at the flag right at the start, should be an easy kill or two unless they shoot it)

2: Once you have the 7 kills switch to this class as danger close pro gives you increased killstreak damage.

    One man army
    Danger Close Pro
    Ninja

Claymores. (Find a nice spot to hide in because your harrier should get you a chopper gunner and you need to be out of sight. Place two claymores
to block off entrances to the area)

3: Once your chopper gunner is gone you should only need a couple more kills. Get to 23 and then switch to

    One Man Army
    Hardline
    Ninja

Semtex (You're already claymored in. No need for more)

Scar is definately the gun to use but I wouldn't put on the grenade launcher. Go with the heartbeat sensor. Helps prevent you getting caught out and could locate that last kill for you.

Only got a nuke once - but setup was:

    Hardcore HQ on Rundown

    Intervention w/ Silencer, FMJ
    M9 w/Silencer, FMJ
    Claymore
    Smoke

    Bling Pro
    Cold Blooded Pro
    Ninja Pro

    Harriers, Chopper Gunner, Nuke.

Ended up picking up an M4 along the way which took me over the line. Difference was the chopper gunner against idiots who stuck with Hardline/Lightweight. All it would have taken was a switch to a coldblooded class and my streak would have been 5-10 kills shorter.

Definitely recommend HQ for it though. You'll be ignoring the objective, but if the team can keep a HQ from being captured, and take it as late as possible, then you've an awful lot of targets just rushing to get smacked down.

I've never got a nuke, probably wont anytime soon either..
I don't have the patience and usually run around a bit like a headless chicken in a field surrounded by hungry farmers with shotguns!
    Hopefully will someday though..

In a nutshell the reason the game is cr4p. your strategy is based on the rest of the team carrying your selfish carcass while you camp your way to a game wrecking event that you then boast about - what a hero...

That's exactly it. That's the one true reason the game is crap. It's not the glitchers standing in the sky, it's not the connection quality drops, it's not the lack of balance for lower ranks versus higher ranks, it's not 1887s in a dark corner, it's not the guys with infinite care packages, it's not cowards behind two claymores with iron sights up pointed at the doorway. It's selfish people like me holding an open position beside a primary objective and giving my poor long-serving teammates zero enemies to worry about on the left flank.

What is the point in this post?

Too many times do I have to listen to fools in game dictating to others how to play. Well guess what. The servers are not dedicated, there are NO rules so I will continue to use my "noob" tube and camp in dark corners to get the best score I can. There's nothing anybody can do about it, which is great.

Do not blame the players for the poorly structured game, they didn't design the game. Get onto activision and complain... doubt you'll do that though ;)

I agree there are too many people playing headquarters and domination just to get their k/d up or get a nuke, basically they cant do it in tdm so they have to BOOST to do it in another game mode.
I do think its a form of boosting when you dont go for an objective and just camp your ass off.

To be honest i really dont care what guns a person uses , they are all their to be used , but playing a game with an objective i.e domination /h/q , demolition, and you camp in dark corners just to get a good score ...lmao have a word with yourself pal , to spend money on a game just to camp in corners to get a good score , i'm glad your enjoying the game.

Your right there is nothing anybody can do about it , your not a team player so thats the way you will play.Good luck with that.

No way, you run to the opposition spawn with a Rocket launcher and take that one. That's when all hell breaks loose.

People who only go for kills on Domination do my head in too. Even when I snipe I capture things or hold off enemies from capturing one of ours. It is highly annoying when you are the only one who defends objectives when you have 2 and that's enough to comfortably win.

Actually domination is the one I use to get a nuke. It's the logical one really because if you are winning they'll be forced to come to you. I'll only go for the nuke if we have two flags and the way I'll try to get it is by defending. Camping in the middle of nowhere won't get you kills. Selecting a spot overlooking your two flags and picking off enemies as they try and capture is the easiest way to get a killstreak. I have seen it occasionally that people going for nukes will set right next to a flag refusing to capture while you're being dominated but I guarantee you they won't get it.

Take invasion for example. Let's say I have a sniper rifle and a PP2000. We start at C and also capture B. At that point I will take up sniping from C with a heartbeat on my rifle so I can tell when someone is trying to flank me. I have C4 placed at C and my pistol to back me up if I see anyone going through the building at the left. I can then pick them off when they try to take B and blow them up at C.

Doing that it's extremely easy to get harriers. The only time I'm camping or not defending is when I have my chopper gunner up and I don't think anybody is going to try and say that a chopper in the air isn't helping the team. Yes I'm not going to try and capture A but I am helping you hold the other two.

very true , only most good players playing domination use ninja pro , so dont always count on the heartbeat sensor.

Not necessarily, you'd be surprised the amount of people who run straight to B and leave their spawn one. If your team go for your spawn and B and you have C under attack then the opponents get stuck in 2 minds and your team can start by dominating.

Not really because if you have a or c then eventually everyone will either spawn on either a or c leaving the other one unguarded. I d see what your saying but i've never seen it work like that , with the exception of certain maps where b isnt the most important, e.g wasteland , map where its raining (cant think of the name of it)

i was playing afghan yesterday and had harriers, chopper gunner and nuke on. got 7 kills and played really cautious for the next couple of minutes and my harrier got me 4 kills, so then was in the chopper gunner and got 14 kills with dat - got the nuke but didnt use it because was still kicking ass in the chopper and said id use it when it was finished. next thing i know the score limit was reached and i didnt get to use my nuke:( 29 kills no deaths was good though:D

Well done! you have taken the first step towards recognising your selfishness and realising that team play exists, then made a bollix of it by rationalising it all away by claiming to be a lesser parasite than some other clowns.

Good luck out there on the left flank, you lone hero, its not about the nuke, its about everybody else working hard to help you pad you stats, now thats teamwork...

Actually he makes a very good point. The point of headquarters is as much to deny access to the HQ as it as to capture it yourself. In fact if everybody on the team runs into capture then all you are doing is providing an easy multikill to any enemy who is good with a rocket/grenade launcher/frag/semtex etc.

The best way to defend a HQ is to have one person in a sniper position overlooking it, one person in a position close to each entrance and two inside to take out any that happen to get through the net.

He can sit outside and not capture and he's still helping the team by preventing the enemy from capturing. If on the other hand he's sitting in some corner in the middle of nowhere picking people off in completely pointless out of the way locations then it's a very different case but the way he describes it he is actually exactly the sort of player I want on my team.

Good luck out there on the left flank, you lone hero, its not about the nuke, its about everybody else working hard to help you pad you stats, now thats teamwork...

This thread was started about getting nukes - it's really not about how certain players and their styles piss you off. It's a computer game - if you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.

Over two irate posts you've jumped to a wild conclusion about how I play the game at all times, and you're projecting other frustrations on to that - all the while being off-topic.
