We created 2 clear goal chances in the 1st half, one from Honan which went wide and one from Paudge Collins which went wide. McGrath had a very good chance early in the 2nd. The likes of Tony Kelly's free and Moreys shot near the end weren't clear chances by any means, Morey's effort was bread and butter for Nash, it takes a lot better to beat someone of his calibre.

The only area we did well was in out FB line. The fact that our keeper didn't have to make a save shows that they did well.
Galvin did well in the 1st half but like Honan faded as the game wore on. Cork dominated our HB line, a recurring theme for us, and the Cork HB was well on top. Those 2 areas are Clare's biggest problems imo.
The fact that our FB line didn't get wiped ,considering how porous our HB line was was a relief or the score could have been way worse.
Yeah id agree with most of that and regarding the goals far more realistic than what people were saying.

Youre right we did not create any goal chances ourselves although Harnedy was clean through and went for a point with moykan free.

Our full forward line done well and i felt we had clare in trouble considering Coughlan O farell and Horgan got around 6'points or more from play in th second half when we saw a lot more ball in the second half.

Just because a man is passionate about hurling shouldn't qualify him for the job. Plenty lads like that that I wouldn't put in charge of a Junior B team yet its trotted out repeatedly about Davy.
If he was a bit calmer rather than roaring at refs and linesmen he might be able to see whats developing on the field.

How very silly and small-minded of you, how very silly and small-minded Goddamn it! A man who the Mayor of Clare is considering erecting a statue of should be treated with a little more respect and admiration. Yes Davey roars at refs when he gets it wrong but that's no different to me roaring at the wife when she messes up the dinner, we all do it and we all gave our own particular style. Of course brave Davy sees what's developing on the field as is evident in the following video...

If you have business to be going about outside this thread then go about it but please don't be soiling our Davey's name. I beg of you, I beg.

What seems to be the problem officer? Perhaps you're envious of 'my kinds' alternative analysis. I'm doing nothing more than offerings insight and standing up for our brave Davy. There's many an 'Internet Gangster' or 'Keyboard junkie' out there that will talk down Davy online but would be the very quietest of all mice in the field if there were to be a face-to-face, man-to-man (mouse) type encounter on one of the Clare streets!

Look you were on here last year in the middle of the championship aswell posing as a die heart Galway supporter now twelve months later you are a converted Clare and Davy man, if you are going to troll at least cover your tracks!

Where did I say I am a Clare man? I am a Galway man, my Father hails from Clare and therefore I have a soft spot for the county. My defending of Davey is defending him as a person and a legend of the GAA. It has nothing to do with counties, nothing at all! I have huge respect for Davy and what he has done for the GAA and I felt need to defend him and voice my opinion. He isn't here to do so, why can't I? If I were to agree with the negative opinions on Davy would you be troll-accusing me?

You wouldn't associate the terms 'we' and 'our' with family reference would you? :)

Defend the man as a person if you want. That's fine, I've no problem with him as a person, its his ability as a manager that concerns me and his ability to get the best out of this Clare team, nothing more

That's fair enough. To he honest with you you're probably right. Maybe my love and passion for the man has overshadowed my view on his managerial abilities thus giving perhaps a biased view on my behalf. I do apologise. The way I expressed my views could have and should have been expressed in a different way.

Any love and passion you have for Davy is your own business. More power to you. If you want to express said love and passion knock yourself out

Regarding the football, think they've a decent chance of putting it up to Laois. Some counties go into the qualifiers deflated as they had notions of progressing in their provincial championship.
This didn't really apply to Clare as they drew Cork in Munster, if anything they can take positives from how they performed in that game.
Add to that, Laois have lost some players gone to the US for the summer (i think), home tie and hopefully they can be good and competitive. Then just take it from there

I have a feeling Clare could win this.Clare after a poor start made Cork work hard in the end.

Compared to the Cork game,Clare will feel this is winnable.Micko has always produced something special whatever team he managed and the fact the Clare team will buy in to this added with home advantage, they have a huge chance.

Laois have been far from impressive so far.If ye can stay with them at half time,ye have a great chance.

Regarding yere hurlers, I see Davy is still picking the team late.Their a back lash in this team, suddenly clare have a cause again.Id say ye will win this with a bit to spare.

Good win for yere hurlers.Yere gathering momentum.Ye should beat Wexford.

    Micko resigned with the footballers
    That is a suprise.

Crikey, that little dalliance did'nt last long.

As for the hurlers, when I see a centre back breaking out of defence and then giving a lateral hand-pass, I despair. Same goes for the goalie pucking out the ball 25 yds to his full or corner back. This is not hurling, it is pussey-footing, plain and simple:(.

i agree that Clare that over simplfy at times. But i can see why they want a possesion game.No team has the strengths in every position to play as direct as KK though.

No matter what style ye play ye should beat wexford.I dont think Clare would fear Dublin or Limerick in a quater final unless Galway loose tommorrow and ye cant play Cork again.

The draw has been kind to davy.

Funnily enough I think Clare would beat Galway as well. Lucky Davy could easily enough end up in an AI semi and anything could happen after that.

I think Galway will beat Dublin tommorrow.

But Dublin,or Limerick if they loose next week ,i dont see Clare fearing them.

If Clare do progress they avoid KK unless they meet in all ireland final. The draw has worked out perfectly for ye,compared to the loosers of next weeks Munster final.

Imagine loosing the munster final next week narrowly and then probably meeting KK two weeks later in a quater final and having to build your self back up. .Clare definetly avoided the short straw the way things worked out.

Laois really setup to suit Clare, loads of open space and bunching up is ideal for the short passing game. Wexford will be a massive ask though.

The footballers, wtf happened to them? 20 minutes and they looked like a good team and then they decided to start making stupid mistakes.

Footballers could have gone in 4 or 5 pts up at half time, instead a few silly turnovers trying to work the ball out defence and they ended up going in at the break deflated.
To say the arse fell out of the bucket after that is an understatement

In the past I would have said that there were footballers in Clare as good as any other county, I've been to a fair few club games, few league games and the 2 championship games this year, I fear the talent just isn't there.

Looks like of the starting 15, only the goalie and one corner back didn't score from play.
That's got to be fairly unusual.

Didn't see the game, did Galvin actually play wing forward, or was he in midfield with Duggan wing forward?

    Clare: P Kelly; D O'Donovan, D McInerney (0-01), C Dillon (0-01); B Bugler (0-01), P Donnellan (0-01), P O'Connor (0-01); C Ryan (0-11, 0-08f, 0-02'65), P Duggan (0-04); J Conlon (0-01), T Kelly (0-01), C Galvin (0-01); P Collins (0-02), D Honan (0-03), C McGrath (0-03).

I only got in at half time myself, but I think Colin Ryan went to midfield with Galvin, Duggan in the 2nd half was positioned in the half forward line and did well under puckouts.
Makes you wonder why he saw no gametime V Cork. I know different clasds of opposition but with Conlon off injured that day we were crying out for an option in the HF line.
Such are the idiosyncrasies of a Davy managed team

Although we have the benefit of hindsight, that's a good point in fairness.
He might well have made a difference v Cork

Anyways, good to see Conlon back, and recovered from his injury v Cork
