I've been on a diet for 2 months now. I'm looking to loose fat. I've been slowly coming away from all the sweets and chips etc...

Now I'm looking to change my lunch... I would usually have a roll with either hot chicken, Tuna and sweetcorn or Turkey with lettuce and mayo. Any ideas on something healthy to get, I'd eat more than less anything lol so I don't care what ideas you come up with lol.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

You'd be much better off (and your wallet would be too!) making your lunch at home and bringing it in. It would only take a few minutes in the morning or even the night before, and it really is worth the effort.

Changing your roll to a wrap would be a great start!
Also avoiding the chicken fillet as its all processed and go for lean slices of turkey ham etc..

In my local centra they have a noodle bar, I'd get the stir fry minus the noodles and ask them to put it into a wrap!

I get my lunch in Spar at college a lot. Partly because I can't make my own lunch as I tend to kip in friends houses a few times a week and have no food there.

What would be a good sandwich to make up? Is coleslaw a bad idea?

I'm a big fan of egg sandwiches but they have a lot of mayo in them too don't they?

I used to get spicy chicken rolls with cheese, but wow almost 800 calories and all processed. PFFF. Buh bye.

    Salad plate/bowl?

That's what i always get. Plethora of veg followed by sundried tomatoes to give it flavour.

Wrap is still white flour and still nutiritionally void. Even the brown breads they use in centra delis is not 100% wholemeal and still has a high % of wheat flour

My local londis has salad bowls in 3 sizes, just fill them up and its a fixed price. I jam JUST lean ham, turkey & chicken into them, can get over 500g for ~€4.50 while similar meats are ~2-3 times that price in deli counters per kg. I usually put a token slice of cheese ontop to hide my scam :pac:

    Thanks for all the replies.

I'm going to start preparing lunches from now on. Im not really into a salads... I'd only have one if it was covered with dressing but thats not much good really. I'm just going to stick with wraps and wholemeal bread. i wouldn't really know what to get in a wrap... Any ideas?

Cucumber sticks and either hummous or tzatziki in a wrap are yummy. I'd say other veg (salad leaves, carrots, peppers, celery etc) would be nice too but I like cucumbers. I find wraps can be very salty though, you might be better off making your own from scratch if you have the time.

Woah, that is an amazing idea, I really am impressed with your scheming!!

But should you really trust the meat that is in those salad bars? I bet for economical reasons they do not put the best kind of meat out, and you don't know where it's been or how long it's been there. I don't actually eat meat, but I would encourage people who do eat meat to actually know where their meat has come from, if it is raised in the uk or Ireland not imported and if it is free range / organic.

I am also slightly wary of salad bars having experienced tramps come into stores off the streets, grab handfuls and walk off eating it :(

OP - try making your own lunch and bringing it in, or buy the ingredients there and make it in work. If it's food "on the go", I'm not sure what to recommend really, but you should definitely get a piece of fruit to go with whatever you get. Some deli counters in Centra/Spar/Londis have hot soup you can take out, or baked potatoes. If you could buy a warm potato you could buy a filling separately or ask for something with it like beans or tuna, with a little bit of cheese?
