    Hi guys,
I know a couple of boardies made it down to Peter last week, the gig was great, Peter was fantastic and fantastic to see him in that venue.

Passion Pit will headline the installment Heineken Green Spheres.
This one in Cork's Savoy on March 12th.

*Apply for tickets from 8th Feb on http://www.heinekenmusic.ie/ *
Ticket office is not open yet but keep an eye onilne for news and giveaways.

Passion Pit is the brainchild of Michael Angelakos, joined on tour by Ian Hultquist (synths), Ayad al Adhamy (synths, samplers), Jeff Apruzzese (bass, synths) and Nate Donmoyer (drums). Angelakos originally wrote their first EP ‘Chunk of Change’ as a Valentine’s Day gift for his girlfriend but such was the interest in it that he was prompted to return to the studio and turn it into a full album. The result was ‘Manners’ an 11 track work that caught the attention of Columbia Records and subsequently a host of indie loving music fans and journalists alike. The album’s lead single ‘Sleepyhead’ features a sample of Irish folk legend Mary O’Hara but that is not where the Irish connection ends, with band member Nate Donmoyer’s relatives hailing from the emerald isle. This show not only provides Donmoyer a chance to trace his heritage but also gives the people of Cork the opportunity to catch one of the most exciting bands on the circuit’s first local performance in the newly refurbished Savoy for free.

@CFC007: We have a new ticketing process for this one,
You can apply from the 8th Feb over on heinekenmusic.ie.

When tickets have been issued I will have a few sparesies for boards peeps to win too in case you aren't successful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,944 ✭✭✭Jay P

Can you tell us what the new process is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 thefifty

What happens if you don't win them in the draw?

Is there anyway to buy them, and now, I'd give my left arm to go!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭HeinekenMusic: Ed

@Jay p - New process is just a simplified version of the old one with some of the steps removed. Your two mates won't need to confirm for instance.

@thefifty - I will have a few competitions up after tickets have been allocated so those that didn't get any are still in with a shot.
There will also be some in press and on the auld radio - will give you a heads up on these too.

Today is the 8th and I have tried to apply for tickets and can't find where on the site to do this.
Am I just missing a link, or is the site accepting applications yet?

This is great seeing as I was too late to get tickets for their sold out show in the Olympia. Are these tickets based on a "first come first served" principle as regards regisration or not?

Nope, applications are now open over on heinekenmusic.ie

Nope, it's a lottery, people who are active on the Green Spheres forum do have a small advantage though.

Sorry but one other question. Does it make a difference that I put down Galway as my county but want to go to the concert which is in Cork? As in,do you have a better chance of getting tickets to a gig in your own county? thanks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭HeinekenMusic: Ed

Makes no odds geographically John. We had a number of people make the trip from Dublin to Galway for Peter Doherty.

Forgive my ignorance now but this is my 1st time applying to a Heineken Green Spheres event but should I be succesful in winning 3 tickets but one of my confirmed friends in the mean time can't make, what happens then

@MajorThom - Certainly not ignorant to be signing up!
As long as you your mates have confirmed attendance online, if you win and one can't make it you still get three tickets so just find some lucky 3rd party who would like to go. Chances are you will find one on this here thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 400 ✭✭Bugg

No luck here, hopefully there will be a second round of tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,861 ✭✭✭glanman

    I got tics!

Ed is normally good for tickets...

for those who missed out they say on the site:

"In a new departure for Heineken Green Spheres, die-hard fans that miss out on tickets in the online application process are now in with another chance to see their heroes.

We will be holding a space on the night for the first 100 people who arrive without tickets. Those with tickets should be in before 10.30PM at which point we will open the doors to those in the waiting line.

So if you want to make it in on this line, do get down early and please be patient, just showing up will not guarantee entry but if you make the 100 and are over 18 then you are in with a good shot! "

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭Harpy

No luck here either with tickets ... And to make matters worse i just spotted somebodies status on Facebook saying "Just won Passion Pit tickets, does anybody know if they're any good ???" .... Some people  ....

Does anybody know if there is another round of tickets to come ??? Or does anybody know any other way of getting tickets ??? At this stage i would be happy to pay for them ...

    Hi guys,
Congrats to those who got sorted.
For those who didn't, hold tight, we will have a few more to go out soon - as correctly assumed below people who don't claim their tickets in 24hrs will have them redistributed.

Once that is over and done with I will have even more for a Boards competition (I have 5 double passes put aside for this).
(Open to suggestions on the fairest way to give these away too btw)

Then in a brand new twist as pointed out below the first 100 peeps down on the night will also be looked after.
I would be surprised if anyone was left queing for hours tbh, should be fairly obvious where the 100 stops.

So still a few ways to get in.

Yeah, that was me that posted that over on the HGS forums. She immediately went on 'Hide' after that.

People have only 24hrs to claim their ticket so if they don't reply in that timeframe maybe they will release them to others who applied.
Other than that you can turn up and queue for the waiting list thing (mentioned above.)
You could be waiting in the cold for a few hrs with that route though and not even be in the lucky 100.

    They can't be bought no.

Maybe Ed can hook a few boardsies up. *wink wink nudge nudge* :)

Thanks for the reply Scien ... Hopefully they'll release another round of unclaimed tickets ... I wouldn't even mind waiting in the cold if i thought it'd get me a ticket ... Have they done this "waiting list thing" before ??? Anybody know what time you'd want to start queueing at ??? I wouldn't be able to make it down till after work( i live in Limerick) ... Fingers crossed that maybe Ed will come up trumps ;) ... Did you get sorted with tickets Scien ???

also...I would have appreciated an email either way......would have saved all that refreshing hours after tickets had gone out. Just saying as a suggestion for the future.

@Ed - Can you tell us how many tickets were available & how many people applied?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭HeinekenMusic: Ed

@ OlanS - Outlined a few options there. Apart from these there will be a comp in the Tribune this weekend and one on the Cork Indo this week.
Second batch of offers haven't gone out yet but I must stress the take up rate is normally quite high.
Will also pass on your feedback on not being notified.

@H8GHOTI - I don't have the exact figures but usually about 8 times as many people apply than we have room for. Obviously this varies on the size of the venue.

Ah, no luck either - Booked to go down to Cork anyways with a few mates, if we don't come out succesful then I guess we'll have to settle for a night on the tiles in some random nightclub!

I'll be keeping an eye out for any competitions you'll be mentioning though!

No luck either :( really hoping to go yet.

    Thanks for the updates Ed!

Yeah, would have loved to have gone. I was sure I got emails before the other gigs saying when the ticket office was about to open?

OMG have the 5 pairs been given out yet? Huge PP fan desperately seeking tickets here!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 354 ✭✭snazzy

    Heya Ed,

I was unlucky this time around and was properly the most gutted I have been because I was going to bring my brother and sister to their first Heineken Green Spheres and we are all big PP fans. :(
I expressed interest via yer Facebook and was going to do the whole queuing, hoping to be in the first 100 but I'll be coming back home from UL and won't be in Cork till 8-ish which will be way too late.

I agree a raffle would defo be the fairest way of allocating tickets via boards so thanks for even giving people another chance.
Yer ticket system is very fair but just didn't work this time.

    Cheers,
    Sarah.

Last 5 pairs of Heineken Green Spheres with Passion Pit tickets are up for grabs for boards.ie members. Just tell me in 15 words or less why you should get them. I'll check back tomorrow evening and pick 5 winners.
    Good luck now...
