Delayed/lag reactions in MW2?

Just wondering does anyone else get this? Say youd be shooting at some guy, your shot goes off and it looks like it connects but he kills you and in Killcam it looks as if your just standing there or still running and not shooting? Like theres a delay or lag or something?

I get this so much (especially as im trying to get better at quickscoping its more noticeable. My scores in games seem to mirror that from around 6-8 i get pretty good scores up around the 20's and a few deaths but once after 9/10 I get mauled as im playing more americans. My only thinking behind this is that americans are beasts at this game or the lag/delay is in their favour?

My broadband isnt the greatest and I usually get a 2-3 bar connection in game. Still though when im shooting a guy and he still kills me and then only to see in the Killcam that im just standing there like a plike its pretty annoying. Anyone else get this??

its because iwnet seems to always pick sh!te computers to host the servers.

That can be a regular enough problem. You need to make sure that your NAT status is set to Open, and if you are playing a game where you are not getting at least 3 bars signal, then leave the lobby after it.

It'll often be a problem with the Hosts internet rather than yours. You'll often see in games where it starts off fine, and then goes to a situation where one person has 4 green bars and everyone else has 1 orange one. It'll usually either just drop the connection and dump you back to lobby, or try to get a new host.

This could be some dick knowing he's host and filling up his connection to screw up everyone else.

Just lag and you arn't alone with it.
You need to avoid America games really and when play in the evenings this seems to be difficult.
I have often emptied close to half a clip into a guy, only for him to turn around and in 1 shot kill me. Then to watch the killcam where im standing there like a gimp and didn't fire a single shot

i've seen this happen with my claymores recently, i'd hear the normal "click" and then no exaggeration 5 seconds later is goes off very very frustrating

if you play into the small hrs you got no chance against the americans. the diff in net speed is unbelievable.

Im on the 360. This lag thing is annoying to be honest. I want to quickscope and to practice with it but after 8/9pm its impossible to do it and I have to use a scar or an acr which I dont like using.

If there are americans I dont have a chance but even up against european players I get the "I fired my gun but in killcam im doing the stand and stare dance" alot of the time.

I think you all need to understand how p2p gaming works. It doesn't. Massive lag is going to be a big part of your gaming life's.

This isn't lag. They are probably using the Perk Scrambler Pro. This delays Claymores by 3 seconds.

There are occasional times when you want to scramble the oppositions radar. Otherwise it's a bit useless.

True. But I guess if you use Scrambler regularly it could be somewhat useful. Bearing in mind I get between 3-5 kills on most maps from Claymores, it might be handy to have it there. But yeah, feck all benefit to make you go pro on the perk really. Particularly when it's up against such strong ones like Ninja Pro, Steady Aim Pro and Commando Pro.

your are by no means alone i get terrible lag problemsand some games eg fifa10 i cant even play online. I use my laptop hooked up to my 360 and its a little bit better but not by much

yeah i get this alot.....i usually always have 3 bars (out of 5)...

example: i run around a corner, see a guy and shoot my shotgun...he shots i die.
killcam= me runnning around and him shooting.

its the split second that make the diffrence...


and i usually get put on spanish/ english servers...rarely irish (5 bars)

i'm having a lot of trouble with this the last two days. It's never been this bad. I'm lucky if I get 3 bars and if i do it doesn't stay at 3 for long

It is almost impossible to play this game online due to the lag problems. I know Ireland has problems with broadband but ending up on a host in Portugal or in Eastern Europe points to the people who wrote the P2P code being complete morons. Given the lack of dedicated servers, it is quite probable that the management of IW are too damned stupid and busy counting their money to realise the damage they've done to this game.

The problem for pc gmers is thAT IWNET IS DESIGNED THE EXACT SAME AS the xbox version meaning it looks for the host with the best access to the internet because its designed for xbox who all haev uniform spec machines where as in pc the guy with the best internet connection could have the worst pc

I was getting the same problems but it has really improved since switching to the NTL 30Mb connection. While on Eircom my kills would average 11 to 15 for the past week (got it in Monday) I have been getting up to 18 to 29 kills.

People tell you to open your NAT to improve your game but that has no effect. NET just means you can join some lobbys and others you can't. Besides that, I have opened ports, turned on DMZ, danced F*****g naked to abba and it made no difference. My NAT was still Strict or Moderate.

I spent over 2 months trying to open NAT on all X-boxes (we have 3 in the house) and I could never get them all open.

Its typical Microsoft c**p.
Spend 1 hour playing games and 3 days trying to fix it only to find your still at square 1. You know your never going to get it right but like a drug you just keep trying anyway.

Lol, the 30mb has nothing to do with it. You can host a 20 player match with Teamspeak on a 3mb line easily. Its latency that's the key to on-line gaming.

So is the latency better on NTL over Eircom and that's why the increase in the game performance.

Any time after 10pm, it seems to be unplayable I'm presuming this is because that's when the yanks get on and are always picked as hosts.

I don't believe there has even been an acknowledgement of this from IW and the next patch is just to fix the care package glitch. Shame.

Possibly. Really depends on who your connecting to and what exchange you connecting to, quality of the copper and different ISP's will use different links at varying latency's. NTL/Chorus/UPC have some pretty screwed up routing protocol's which could actually improve performance if you spend a lot of time connecting to mainland Europe.

What I'm trying to say, is that although it might have fixed your problem there isn't enough details to mean that it will be a solution for anybody else.

Yeah the matchmaking should be location based. It's not like there isn't enough people playing in Ireland to make up a game of ground war ffs.

I'm trying to decide if I am going to keep NTL.
For the past couple of days we are finding it impossible to get a game together (3 Xbox on 1 Cisco EPC2425 Router)

This has never been a problem with the Netgear DSL router we used with Eircom. I'm going to get NTL to take back the Cisco router and put in a Linksys one (attach that to the Cable Modem)

Anyway,
My son told me his friend has 4 X-Boxes in the house and for the past week they have been having trouble getting a game together as well. They are on Eircom. I'm thinking there's changes going on with Live, possibly an update or something.

I think a lot of my problems are coming from the Cisco Router that NTL Provide.

I played for about 2 matches tonight, and got so pissed cos the lag was so bad, I just quit. Ridiculous, shooting away at a fella and then he knifes you? So annoying.

This has been an ongoing problem with MW2.
The bit that gets you most of all is when the game ends these F*****g ticks think they are **** hot at the game.

Yesterday I fired a grenade at a bloke standing in the corner, absolute perfect shot. he runs through it and shoots me. When I watched the replay I only injured him. Go figure!!!!!

Lag is when you start jumping around the room , this is caused by unstable broadband , i get this from 6 pm to 11 pm (vodafone bb) .
If you put a clip into somebody and he turns around and kills you and when you watch the replay you didnt fire a single shot then thats your latancy (ping).
You have to love irish broadband service providers:D

... was lagging all the time but when i stopped playing mw2 and connected to a cod4 server guess what perfect gameplay with pings of 60 ms and no lag

It seems people are quick to blame the BB the Connections and whatever else they can rather then blame the game.

The truth is, IW have been churning out this S41te on all versions of COD and they refuse point blank to fix anything.

I watched my son get slaughtered today while playing MW2. There was lots of "Ahhh what the hell"

He then went into the next game, got a care package, done the care package glitch and got a score of 38 kills 1 death.

When I said that's cheating he replied "so is getting shot in the face after emptying your gun into someone. I have to balance my K/D somehow. The yanks are pissing all over us thinking there the best at the game. Every time IW give the Yanks host I'll use the Care Package Glitch. Balances everything out."

How can you argue with that!!!!!
