    Hi Guys
OK so i would like to loose a stone / stone and a half also to shape up the old gut. so whats the best way to achieve this.

a little background, 36 years old, used to run a lot when younger but kids and job etc.. limit time.

So living in Ashbourne i am looking to see what is best to get me a little in shape again. do not want to head to Gym, (think they are a rip off) so whats the next best thing for me.

    Cheers

why not just run again? try 45 minutes every second night, no excuses about time, anyone canfind that much time! and make sure diet is good, losing gut is 80% diet unless you are running for a couple of hours a day. also, but some free weights - got dumbells in argos about 2 years ago, very useful!

It might seem like simple advice, and I don't mean to sound dismissive, but what it comes down to is more exercise and less food.

I've been losing weight since the start of the year. I've cut out all snacks, so all I'm eating is breakfast / lunch / dinner. I try my best to also make sure that whatever I eat in the evening is pretty light ( so lunch is normally my biggest meal ). I don't have any other snacks / desserts etc., and drink water ( calorie free ) instead of minerals etc.

On the exercise front, I play Squash once a week and intend to go walking / swimming when I can. Like I said, it's a simple plan, I take in less calories and burn up more, and it's working so far.

To help keep me motivated, I've got a target weight I want to reach, an idea of how long it will take and I weigh myself each morning to see how I'm doing.

How about good old fashioned walking? Free and easy. Get out with your kids?

Main thing though is what you eat and drink...get that right and you'll start making progress quickly.

Don't bother with the situps, if you at least got a chinup bar you could do a fair bit at home. Doing lunges and bodyweight squats would be on my list FAR above situps.

First of all, do something you enjoy doing. Exercise DVDs have their critics but they do get people moving. Use bodyweight exercises like squats, lunges and press-ups, work as hard as you can and do something every day, even if its only 10 minutes. Combine that with walking and healthy eating and you'll get results.

    Best of luck!
