Thermo- i dont like saying the price out loud, it scares me.

Yeah i agree blay, the black is just like any m4, the tan (i just threw up a little). The FG its just right, and i dont have to go off and buy new mags.

As the person who sold this to you Spoonie, I shan't comment on it's qualities. I am glad you are enjoying it though.:)

I do however take exception to your comment relating to the shagtastic Dark Earth version......of which I currently happen to own one.:D:D:D

If anything, I find the foliage green violently offensive to my disbelieving pupils.:P:P:P:P The very idea that somebody not only dreamed that one up but likes how it looked....is well hard to digest.

Green guns are the spawn of Satan.

Guns are black/dark grey. Anything else is wrong, unless its tan, and its a) gucci, or b) a scar or Masada/ACR.

that a boy, i remember the days when this lad liked nothing more than a type 89 and filthy brit DPM., took me a while, but i made a real man outta him., :D

Ive seen it in the flesh (theres a review in the upcoming take aim of it) and its defo a gucci gun. fierce rate of fire and i like the screw on motor terminals they are using on the G&P M120 in them. :)

Apologies for taking this slightly off-thread but can anyone tell me the differences between the SCAR & Masada, I'm a little confused (or maybe I'm not gucci enough yet)

For the record, this is the only Tan/DE/CB AEG I've ever seen that I would actually consider buying purely on aesthetic values: http://www.youtube.com/airsoftgidotcom#p/u/10/nvndqGdaYrI

Also, if you're going to do video reviews on the website I hope you don't expect us to watch yourself or Richie, the competition is tough

I'm with ya Spoonie and Blay, I like them....... but then i liked the Tavor aswell.Hmm!
As a guy of extremely limited skirmishing knowledge and i mean limited:) what the hell is the point of having a 'baby turd' coloured gun on a lovely green Irish site.Green to me makes complete sense.

Could i just add this post is probably the biggest mistake i have made since i've joined boards and i fully expect to now be taken to task:D:D

Those are in all g&p guns Masada :) (the screwed on ones) atleast newer models. My VN and m4 both had them :)

As for gucci... Burbery was gucci at one point till everyone and thier dog had it... then it became something not to be seen dead in *whistles innocently*

Most motors have screw holes on the terminals... the difference is g&p use motor wires that have a loop that can be threaded over a screw, and then screwed onto the motor for security and ease of maintenance. Is nice :D

Ah the beautiful sight of a g&p m120... usually the last thing you see before putting the gun back together and completing your bb laser.... pew pew

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,440 ✭✭✭✭thermo

this is one impressive gun,,,,,, got mine today and cant wait to try it out properly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭MerryDespot

To add to the Magpul Mutual Appreciation Society comments - there were two in action today out at Hellfire in Bray - bloody hell - they're BB hoses! Downside - they're also bb vampires - using midcaps and firing bursts seemed to empty the mid-cap in three bursts. All in all - nice. Extremely nice. And what a sound they make...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Um, yup, as established, g&p guns comes stock with m120 motors... they are ALL bb hoses. My vn eats a 75 round midcap in 3 seconds flat... its a bit scary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,440 ✭✭✭✭thermo

for a laugh just put mine on the chrono and its shooting @325 fps with a cyclic rate of approx 950 RPM

really cant wait now to really try it out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭MerryDespot

Ah yes FK, but what a fabulous sound! New AEG envy has been substituted by new AEG parts needy/wanty...

    Hi folks,

Sorry to intrude on a conversation between people who are obviously familiar with the merits of this AEG (and the reasons why) but I have a quick question. I've only recently gotten into airsoft and know it's something I will stick at. I have a mid range AEG, pistol (much fun) and shottie. I'm inclined to increase my collection and am considering if I should save a while to go high range like this one or buy several others for the same total price, so a few questions if you don't mind.

What exactly is "Magpul", a manufacturer? What makes this AEG oh so special compared to say a CA or TM which can go for about the same price? I do want to get an M4 at some stage so is it worth my while holding out to get this one?

    Thanks in advance.

Magpul manufacture real steel firearms and accesories, but make accessories such as grips etc for airsoft under the name Magpul PTS, this is just a regular G&P M4 with Magpul grips, handguard, receiver etc on it, having the Magpul gear on it makes it no better than any other M4 made by G&P but some people just prefer the look of it.

If your new to airsoft buy a cheaper M4 first to make sure you like it before you fork out €450 for this one.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

The manufacturer is G&P. They are an excelent aeg manufacturer with a decent pedigree of consistent excelence. The magpul part is the 'accessories' that come pre installed on this rifle from a RS company called Magpull. The parts are licenced to Magpull's airsoft accessory division PTS (professional training solutions?)

What makes it better than other aegs is its g&p... pretty much anything G&P is going to be good. The magpul side just gets this lot frothing in the shorts because they're serial fanboys.

@ bemused what makes this aeg special compared to a ca or tm is it is reliable and has a metal body.
tm are great but the down falls are, 1; plastic boddies 2; low fps out of ghe box
Ca make nice externals but that is all they have going For them. 90% of the ca stuff that has made it to the Irish market in the last two years has been a let down with the internals.

    Ah jaysus stop it....

There is no CA stuff specifically for the irish market. Its the same as the UK, and the UK gets FINE stuff. You and masada's CA bashing fettish is fecking annoying and unfounded. The G&G circle jerk is also curious in comparison.

Yeah, sportlines been pretty bad, the rest have been fine, and I see a LOT of classic army guns in my work. Ive seen CA guns still running after 6-8 years... ive seen g&g spit thier internals out of the barrel after 10 minutes (literally). Your experience is limited, and you talk like its gospel, adding in statistics that you made up off the top of your head and dates that mean nothing. I wish you'd add 'in my opinion' before you say this ****e...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Yeah the old CAs, 3+ years old are fine. Its the stuff made in made 2 years that is questionable. The sportsline or otherwise I would not lay down cash for again. Too much work and hassle. The internals of alot of clone guns from china put CA internals to shame imo.

Not really... All of the non sportline models ie seen are still pretty much rock solid... I get more problem guns from china tbh... usually agm or dboysm JG and some others however are up there with the big names now imo. I still think the rep is unfairly applied in ireland, nowhere else feels the same.

Ordered mine a week ago with Tony (Eirsoft).
Can't wait for it to arrive going by what people are saying here.

I went for the DE version instead of crustated snot FG one :D. Just something very wrong with that colour.

Also went for the Multi Mission sling DE again and the PTS sling mount.

    So twitching with entacipation!

ok so it should be due in tomorrow, BUT i have a small problem -
because shes wired to the rear and its got the MOE stock the only battery i can choose is one that will fit in the actual stock tube if i want to be able to retract the stock.

im thinking 7.4 lipo? as i really dont know how much a 9.6 stick type will stick out the back or how many click i will lose on the retracting stock if i dont use a Lipo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,395 ✭✭✭Decoy

This is the one I use on my G&P Troy M7A1 which also has the same MOE stock: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/gandp-ep-power-7-4v-1200mah-20c-lithium-battery-t-plug.html
This battery fits pretty snug in the stock tube so you should be able to use most (all?) the positions. The battery above has a standard deans connector, I'm not sure if you need this version or the mini-Deans version of the same battery.

I recently ordered two of these to try: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17289__Turnigy_nano-tech_1300mah_2S_25~50C_Lipo_AIRSOFT_Pack.html
These are a little longer than the G&P listed above so you almost certainly won't be able to use all the stock positions, but they worked out very cheap at just over $20 delivered for the two. They came with Tamiya connectors so I have to change them for deans but that's no big deal.
