Olwyn Murray is Irelands next big thing IMO. She's something special. What was the name of the song she sung on that show tonight?

I didn't think so, she sounded a little forced and her lower notes seemed flat.

If Ireland has a next big thing,

It's certainly not going to come off of that terrible show.

Irelands next big thing is when the greens get booted out of government......... so no, Olwyn Murray is not Irelands next big thing.

Surely if this thread has to be anywhere on boards it should be in 'Reality TV' or at an extreme push in 'Music', but to be honest its probably worthy of the trash, because she's an awful singer and is a perfect example of why The All Ireland Talent Show is a joke...

It was "The Greatest Love of All" - originally done by Whitney Huston.
Not a bad attempt for a 16 year old -

See more about Olwyn Murray here

i just wana say she is not a bad singer at all at all
everyone who is calling her rubbish. i would love love LOVE to hear ye a atempt sing any song not just a whitney huston song

secondly if she is so bad then why then she turn down a contract to have signed with the same company who signed Jordin Sparks

seriously ppl dont bother giving abuse about a 16year old girl who can sing and has sung in hollywood just because ye didnt actually watch the full show
The show might be S**t but dosnt mean every act on it is..!

Regardless of where she has sang before, I have only heard her once and that was last night.

It was atrocious. At least 2 notes were horribly forced and she was flat on the lower notes in the beginning. That's not to say she is a crap singer. She may have just let nervous energy get the better of her.

You cannot say that that performance was good. It wasn't. It was very poor.

But she still got 7's and 8's from the judges. This is simply because the girl is young and they don't want to hurt anyone who puts in a bad performance. Which just serves to show what a stupid programme this is.

I really wish RTE would stop copying the formats of other shows and come up with something different. Afterall, what the **** does Daithi O Se or Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh know about singing or talent in general? What have they done to warrant being the authority?

    Laughable.

It is terrible and should not be on TV nevermind singing. She will be gone, never to be heard of again.

I didn't watch but I believe her second performance was better than her first.

Bit harsh there lad!....I no the girl well and heard her sing many times before and to say she is 'awful' is a bit unfair!

I'm entitled to my opinion and I thought she was an awful singer... As someone who's put themselves in front of audiences, you have to be able to deal with people saying you're not good, so I wouldn't say my comment is harsh...

I agree with D-K...To say that she is an "awful" singer based on one performance is extremely harsh...she is only 16 after all and was singing for the first time live on national TV...I also know her and have heard her sing on many occasions, all of which I would have to say were faultless...her performance on the All Ireland Talent Show was probably the worst I've ever heard her. She is well deserving of her time in the limelight...Also if you think the show is trash why do you watch it?? Personally I wish Olwyn the very best in her career as a singer...and she will have a career in it CaptainNegative!

I heard her tonight (my parents watch it in the other room) and she was off key. She started the song far too low. You couldn't hear what she was singing.

She needs a good bit of voice training. Maybe it is just nerves but if she wants to be a proper singer then she needs to get over that.

I really really hate that show.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 708 ✭✭✭zimovain

Heard much better singers around bars and clubs in the country. Personally I think she's awful.

she should have been booted out of the competition tonight : 4th best act tonight.

Very true! Whoever has the best pr campaign will win. Although having watching it the last few weeks the 'talent' isn't upto much. *Cue 1 or 2 post posters rushing in with SHES SO TALENTED*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 369 ✭✭Luis21

Seriously .... seriously. Are you all f-ing mad ? her voice is average (at best). She cant sing a low note and just screams out the high ones. Yeah she might look good but COME ON, shes not a great singer.

    Poor to be honest.
A good trad night in many west of Ireland pubs will throw up much better voices.

Your intitiled to your opinion as am I, but obviously there are a lot of people out there who really do apreciate her singing... I just don't spend ALL my time on boards.ie critising people..I've other more important things to be doing..

Yep, and most of them have posts in single digits..........
That's not to say they have less value, but we seldom hear from these type of posters again.

didnt think the performance was great, but I HATE that song anyway.. Why are they all picking such cliché songs?? She is certainly a good looking girl though.

dont think she's gonna beat Chloe, she was amazing.. depends on the voting system though, so talent kind of goes out the window.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Strongbow10

that young lad ben is a great young singer. And the older guy who is a tenor is very good too, they have genuine talent that theres a future in id say.

The rest are a bit Meh.... actually that young girl Chloe is pretty good too I have to say.

But as usual its all about how many votes the local community will drum up. I always say the same, I could go on it and have a sh*te on the stage every week and if I had enough people voting for me I could win it.

Bring in proper experts next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

She wasn't great tonight to be honest, and all of her songs are just X-Factor type songs...I mean last week, a moment like this [Leona Lewis] and this week, Hallelujah [Alexandra Burke]...she has a good voice to be fair but nothing hugely special...
Anyway, with the AITS it's about who campaigns for the most votes and all that...heard Na Fianna are mad for the campaigning so I'm sure they'll do well...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,718 ✭✭✭✭JonathanAnon

    Xx_emma_xX wrote: »

That's why i'm glad Chloe won it.. it was teh genuine vote of the country and not a campaign.. The other trad band were far better than Na Fianna anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Strongbow10

I was sure na fianna were gunna win it when they were in the final 2. Would have been a disgrace. Agree with the above poster, Re-Seisun were a far better band to be honest.

The young girl was a worthy winner though fair play to her.

On another note, I never realised that Sean Nos dancer was so hot, good god almighty she was gorgeous!!! :D
