Couch 2 K5 on a treadmill

    Hey guys,


    Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice here. I plan to try the C25K plan, as displayed here

    (I think there are two versions of it? That one, and a $20 version? but I ain't paying for it!)



    I was just wondering, when they talk about "walking" and "jogging", what kind of speeds would they be talking about on a Treadmill?

    Just ignore the link that's asking you to pay for it, what's on that page *is* the plan.

    "Walking" and "jogging" will be whatever paces feel comfortable for you if you're doing it on a treadmill, but personally I recommend that you do it outdoors.

    I agree do it outside on a soft surface.

    I started doing it on a treadmill but found it easier and more enjoyable out doors.

    When I used the treadmill I started off walking slow and brought the pace up to about 6.5kmph walking and 10 kmph running but that was me.

    If you are doing it on a treadmill just bring the walking pace up as far as you can that it is comfortable.
    And the same for the running dont look at other people and think that is the pace you should be doing keep it slow and easy in the beginning so you dont get injured or disheartened if you can keep a fast pace up.

    When you are 'jogging' and further into the plan 'running' you should be able to have a conversation while you are running. If you can't - then go slower. You'll enjoy it more and won't kill yourself in the process. With time your pace will pick up naturally.

    +1 on what others have said about going outdoors rather than sticking to the treadmill. Outdoors gives you more options for surface, fresh air, a natural mix of down-hills and up-hills and if you want to finsh the plan with a 5k race - that race will be outdoors. Plus its just more interesting imo running outside!

    Pretty unfit at the moment, so wouldn't really fancy going Balboa just yet. Just don't do much cardio in my gym routine, so I thought if I tried to work this is, then it'd do no harm.


    I've heard good things about it, and I may aswell give it a shot. Maybe if I ever get much fitter I'll give it a shot outdoors.

    I started this about two weeks ago outdoors in my local park, i done it once on concrete and it was to sore so im sticking to the grass its so much better. Im still doing the same routine as for week one done about 6 of them know so my next one will be stepping it up a notch. as the other posters have said id highly recommend doing it out doors, i could hardly finish the first time and the fresh cold air really helped me out.
