losing wireless ability

have a dell inspiron 6400 running vista. Lately my laptops wireless connection dissappears and can't scan for any wireless networks to reconnect. have to restart my laptop to get working again. Seems to be 1000's of reasons from google, have updated drivers but no difference. any ideas?
