Hey babs, welcome to TLL. It's nice here, you'll like it!

Making friends is easy. It requires one thing and one thing only: an open mind. Go out and about and chat to strangers or friends of friends or people with similar interests and before you know it, you've got a casual acquaintance that could turn into a very good friend!

If meeting people from here is up your alley, come out to this coming-or some other upcoming-beers. The usernames are friendly and the real-life people behind them are even nicer (in my small experience at least)! Don't be put off by the name; we just call it "beers" cos they're usually held in a pub/club. If you don't drink beer or even at all, you won't be excluded (in fact, you'll probably be admired :P) so don't be afraid to come along. I've only been to TLL beers so far but, luckily, there's always a host of people willing to give out their numbers and/or meet new people before a beers so that no one has to feel intimidated by showing up alone!

Either way, as I said, an open mind is paramount. What's important is that you push yourself (a little) and have fun (a lot)! Once again though, welcome to boards!

Welcome to the lounge babs. best place to go is to the Nangers thread at the top of the forum, its the off topic thread for this forum, where people go for general chit chat. A lot of forums have these threads in them and it's a great place to go and chat. New posters generally don't start threads looking for friends. There is also the dublin forum under the Region catagory, and there is a dublin forum, which has lots of very friendly people in it, with an extensive knowledge of dublin.

These to forums will probably be your best place to start your boards experience. Please remember to read the Charters for each forum as the have the rules of posting and also tips on using boardsin general. If you have any other questions the newbies/FAQ forum is a good place to look.
