    hi,
starting circuit training with a minor gaa team this week so am looking for any advice people can give me about training minors! last year was my first year training an underage team so the circuit was pretty basic. i was thinking this year of doing exercises focusing on all the major muscle groups (biceps, triceps, abs, quads, etc) using only their own body as resistance (have been told not to get the lads using weights till their over 18).
    thinking about something like this:

    push ups
    tricep dips
    plank
    sit ups
    lunges
    bridging exercises
    burpees
    fast feet exercises

any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

oh man that needs soo much work.

First off the biceps and triceps are not the major muscles! Thighs, back, chest, hamstrings and shoulders are.

Where are the squats, GHR, use of bands in the sessions, tug or war, lift each other, sandbags, kettlebells etc

    There is massive scope man

Cool, best of luck although minors are a pain in the hole :)

Here's some advice on what you have put down plus a few suggestions:
push ups- Great, you can vary it by getting them to walk with them a la alligators, inclines, med balls etc.
tricep dips- Chairs or benches are your friend
plank- Side planks/bridges, swiss ball bridges
sit ups- these really just end up a rest for them in my experience
lunges- If they've mastered these, use reverse lunges
    bridging exercises
    burpees
    fast feet exercises

    Suggestions:
Partner squats- either with the partner in the bicep curl position or in a fireman's lift
Grip rows- one guy rows while the partner tries to hold him in position
Bear Crawls, Spiderman walks, gorrilla walks
    Single leg split squats
Push offs- Like a leg press with the feet on the partner's chest trying to drive them back as far as possible with one push

There are lots of things and you sound like you're interested, but maybe a bit impeded by the attitude to weights? If you're in Dublin you could pop into us and me or one of the other lads would be happy to talk to you about what we do with GAA teams.

cheers roper, some good tips there. i personally am not against using weights but the manager wants to avoid that for whatever reason so basically all the circuits will be using very little equipment (if any at all!).
those ones i listed aren't the only exercises i'll be using but its good to hear all the other ones you listed. its just a small club hall with a few chairs so it'll be basic training rocky style before the drago fight!

we're in cork so thanks for the offer but won't be able to make it up :D
